Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky: Excellence in emergency patient treatment services at Al-Salam Port Said Hospital
The General Authority for Health Care announced the success of the medical team in the Neurosurgery Department at Al Salam Hospital in Port Said Governorate, in saving the life of a young man who was received in the emergency department of the hospital in critical condition after falling from a high floor.
The Health Care Authority stated that the patient was admitted to Al-Salam Port Said Hospital, and he is in a very critical condition after falling from a high floor, resulting in a fracture of the patient’s cervical vertebrae and pressure on the spinal cord, which led to partial paralysis of the four limbs and the patient’s need for precise and urgent surgical interventions. Using a surgical microscope to treat him and save his life.
The authority added, that the patient was immediately booked into the intensive care unit in the Neurosurgery Department inside the hospital, prepared and entered the operating room and anesthetized by a video-linked surgical endoscope to maintain the stability of the broken vertebrae, and the necessary surgical interventions were performed for him, where the fractured fifth cervical vertebra was removed, and the pressure was lifted from The spinal cord and nerves using a surgical microscope, and a replacement for the broken vertebra made of medical titanium and fixed with a slide and screws, confirming the patient’s health condition and receiving physical and drug treatment now under the observation and care of the hospital.
