Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: Three million comprehensive medical check-ups have been conducted free of charge through family healthcare units and centers in universal health insurance governorates, reaffirming that comprehensive medical check-ups are a right for every beneficiary. These check-ups contribute to the early detection of chronic diseases and help mitigate their complications.

The Healthcare Authority has announced that it has provided over 35.5 million family medicine services through its family healthcare units and centers across the governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance System, namely Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan, since the launch of the system.

In an official statement, the Healthcare Authority emphasized that family healthcare units and centers serve as the primary entry point for beneficiaries to receive primary healthcare services following the latest internationally accredited clinical protocols and treatment guidelines. The Universal Health Insurance System reinforces the family medicine model, ensuring that 80% of an individual's healthcare needs are met through these units, in line with global best practices in primary healthcare.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, highlighted the crucial role of family physicians in the success of the healthcare system. He noted that 285 family healthcare units and centers across the six governorates provide these vital services, offering beneficiaries easy and convenient access to primary healthcare in their local communities.

Dr. El-Sobky explained that the family medicine model simplifies access to healthcare services for beneficiaries, ensuring they receive care at the nearest family healthcare unit, where their electronic medical records and those of their families are maintained. These units foster stronger patient engagement with the healthcare system, encouraging regular visits for ongoing health monitoring. He further noted that these units are responsible for conducting the comprehensive medical check-ups, which are available free of charge to beneficiaries under the Universal Health Insurance System and are conducted annually.

The Chairman of the Healthcare Authority reaffirmed that comprehensive medical check-ups are a fundamental right for all beneficiaries. These check-ups serve as an early detection tool for chronic diseases, aligning with Egypt's presidential health initiatives under the "100 Million Healthy Lives" campaign. So far, 3 million comprehensive medical check-ups have been conducted through the Healthcare Authority's family medicine units and centers across the Universal Health Insurance System's governorates.

This initiative reflects the Healthcare Authority’s commitment to strengthening preventive healthcare services and ensuring early diagnosis to improve the long-term health outcomes of Egyptians.
