Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, attended the closing ceremony of the Authority’s 4th Ramadan Sports Tournament, which witnessed a remarkable expansion this year. For the first time, the tournament featured centralized competitions that brought together teams from the head office and all governorate branches — including Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, and Suez.
Dr. El-Sobky affirmed that the tournament aligns with the Authority’s strategy to strengthen institutional culture, encourage team spirit, and enhance inter-branch collaboration. He noted that in addition to the centralized tournament, local competitions were organized across branches, reflecting the Authority’s commitment to holistic human capital development.
He emphasized that the Ramadan tournament is more than just a sporting event; it serves as a model for institutional engagement and belonging, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie. Notably, women’s participation reached 22% in paddle and table tennis, demonstrating the Authority’s dedication to inclusion and promoting positive interaction among all employees.
Dr. El-Sobky highlighted that supporting employees and ensuring their satisfaction remains a key priority, pointing out that sports and cultural programs play a vital role in building a dynamic work culture and boosting morale — which ultimately enhances the quality of healthcare services within the Universal Health Insurance framework.
The Authority announced the final tournament results, with Port Said securing 1st place in football, South Sinai coming in 2nd, and the headquarters team taking 3rd place. The Authority’s headquarters teams also won first place in both paddle tennis and table tennis.
Beyond sports, the event featured a Qur’an Memorization and Recitation Contest for employees' children, where 16 winners from various branches were honored. Impressively, 7 participants memorized the entire Qur’an, including the 1st place winner — a 7-year-old child from a South Sinai employee’s family. Another participant from the head office won 1st place in the 20 Juz’ category, while 4 contestants were awarded in the half Qur’an category, and 4 more in the 5 to 10 Juz’ category.
In his closing remarks, Dr. El-Sobky extended his gratitude to all participants and particularly to the Employee Well-being and Support Unit for their outstanding organization and execution of the tournament. He reaffirmed the Authority’s ongoing commitment to launching initiatives that support staff and foster a positive, engaging work environment — stressing that investing in human capital is key to achieving institutional excellence and delivering world-class healthcare services.
Mr. Mohamed Tawfik, Head of the Employee Support and Satisfaction Unit, noted that the centralized tournament brought together 122 participants. The competitions included 6 football teams, 10 paddle tennis teams, and 10 table tennis teams, in addition to the children participating in the Qur’an competition — all contributing to a vibrant and friendly competitive atmosphere across the Authority’s headquarters and branches.
