The Egypt Healthcare Authority highlighted the role of pharmacists in providing exceptional medical service at the highest international quality standards in collaboration with doctors, emphasizing their pivotal and fundamental role in the success of the medical system in general, ensuring citizens receive safe, effective, and high-quality medication, with significant support from the state and its attention to the health and safety of citizens.

The Authority mentioned the various roles of hospital pharmacists, which ensure the safety, security, and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical treatment provided to users of the comprehensive health insurance system. The outpatient pharmacy pharmacist is responsible for pharmaceutical matching and providing health education to patients, especially those with chronic diseases, to ensure the safety of the treatment provided to them and prevent drug interactions. The clinical pharmacist collaborates with doctors in departments to review patient cases and develop appropriate treatment plans, offering recommendations to the health team, working on treatment protocols, reporting medication errors and drug side effects, among other tasks.

The Authority continued, stating that the hospital pharmacist dispenses medication for the emergency, surgery, and inpatient departments, working on medication compatibility and dispensation using the unit dose system to ensure safe and effective drug administration according to the principle "the right drug, for the right patient, at the right dose and concentration, by the right route, at the right time and for the right duration." The chief pharmacist is responsible for work plans, task organization, policy development, pharmacist performance monitoring, and quality improvement projects coordination with the quality team in the facility.

Pharmacy preparation pharmacists prepare intravenous medications in the IV preparation room in a sterile, safe, and effective manner, including all types of preparations such as chemotherapy for cancer drugs, general IV medications, and parenteral nutrition. The store pharmacist plays a vital role in inventory management and strategic drug stock management, while the drug information center pharmacist finds alternatives in case of drug shortages, handles pharmaceutical inquiries from the medical team or patients, contributes to the monthly magazine, brochures, pamphlets, and drug guidance distribution to patients and the health team, and participates in awareness campaigns, scientific days, and team training.

The Authority extended a message of thanks, appreciation, and honor to every pharmacist for their significant role in enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to patients, appreciating pharmacists' vital role as a fundamental link in comprehensive healthcare and ensuring the quality of treatment by guaranteeing the safe and rational use of medicines.
