At the HIMSS 2024 conference, the Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority met with the Deputy President of the International Organization for Healthcare Technology HIMSS and the Regional Director for North Africa and the Middle East, along with the General Manager for International Accreditation at the organization, during the global "HIMSS 2024" conference in the United States.
The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority announced the formal application for international accreditation for the digitalization and integrated healthcare technology implementation in its facilities from the international HIMSS organization. This step follows the completion of the digitalization process across all service levels, from primary care to tertiary care in hospitals, aiming to place Egypt's new healthcare system on the map of internationally digitalized health systems.
The Egypt Healthcare Authority has successfully achieved national GAHAR accreditations and international JCI accreditations for healthcare service quality, international accreditations in green health and sustainable care GGHH, and is currently planning for the accreditation of its electronic systems and digitalization applications.
The Authority targets the accreditation of 21 hospitals and several health centers across the provinces to demonstrate the technological capabilities of the state's health institutions on an international level and to establish an evaluation system ensuring the sustainable development of the technological system within the Authority.
The Chairman expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the state's regulatory bodies for their pivotal role in digitalizing Egypt's new healthcare system.
The Deputy President of HIMSS praised the Egypt Healthcare Authority as the first governmental entity in Egypt to apply for the assessment of its electronic system to obtain their international accreditation, marking an important step towards joining the international digital health community.
The Director of the International Accreditation Center at HIMSS stated that obtaining international accreditation requires meeting numerous standards related to the quality of the information system, compliance with its application, efficiency of linkage and information infrastructure systems, data security level, integration of performance indicator dashboards, and comprehensiveness of applications, including patient involvement and electronically measuring their satisfaction with the service.
During the HIMSS 2024 conference and exhibition, held in Florida, USA, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky met with Ronan O'Connor, Deputy President of HIMSS, and John Rayner, the General Director of International Accreditation at HIMSS. The meeting discussed cooperation opportunities between the Egypt Healthcare Authority and HIMSS, emphasizing the importance of digital health and healthcare technology in improving healthcare facility management and maximizing health data benefits. They reviewed the Egypt Healthcare Authority's achievements in enhancing digital transformation and mechanization in the healthcare sector, confirming the significance of this cooperation in improving healthcare services and achieving sustainable digital transformation in this vital sector.
Dr. El-Sobky highlighted the Authority's formal application to HIMSS for international accreditation for digitalization and integrated healthcare technology in its facilities, marking a crucial step in placing Egypt's healthcare system on the international digital health systems map.
