The Egypt Health Care Authority Reveals Results of the "Reassure Yourself About Your Child" Campaign for the 2024/2025 Academic Year in the Universal Health Insurance Governorates Within Two Months of Its Launch

Egypt Health Care Authority: 140,000 students have been examined so far.. and the campaign continues in the governorates of Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, and South Sinai until September 2024

The Egypt Health Care Authority announced the medical examinations conducted for school students as part of the "Reassure Yourself About Your Child" campaign, launched by the Authority to ensure the health of school students at the kindergarten stage Kg1 and those advancing to the first grade of primary, and those transferred to the first grade of preparatory and high school, in the governorates officially operating the universal health insurance system "Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, and South Sinai".

The Authority's statement clarified that the medical examinations for students include (general examination by a family doctor, full nursing assessment of the students, vision measurement, dermatological checks, mental, visual, hearing disabilities, dental, and comprehensive analyses including complete blood count and blood type and RH), in addition to a number of other medical examinations which help in the early detection of diseases, especially chronic ones, to ensure the health of the students and their mental, physical, and intellectual level.

The Authority highlighted the importance of comprehensive medical examinations for students to ensure their health and physical safety and their mental and intellectual growth, which aligns with the efforts of the Egyptian state and the presidential health initiatives to care for the general health of the citizens, especially children and youth as they represent the future of the country. This contributes to the early detection of diseases and their immediate treatment through providing medical service and necessary health care.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority and Supervisor General of the Universal Health Insurance and Hayat Karema projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, noted that the "Reassure Yourself About Your Child" medical examination campaign for school children for the 2024/2025 academic year targets conducting checks for more than 250,000 students of various age groups and educational stages in the governorates "Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, and South Sinai".

He pointed out that the "Reassure Yourself About Your Child" campaign has managed to examine 56% of the targeted students for the year 2024/2025, within two months of its launch. In Port Said, more than 28,000 students were medically examined, while 66,000 students were examined in various educational stages in Luxor, and in Ismailia, the aforementioned medical examinations were conducted for more than 43,000 students, and in South Sinai more than 2,000 students of various age groups, totaling 140,000 students in the governorates officially operating the universal health insurance system.

The Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority added that the campaign complements and aligns with the presidential initiatives launched in the field of health, which included initiatives (elimination of Hepatitis C among school students, early detection of obesity, anemia, and stunting diseases, detection of hearing impairment in newborns), confirming the Egypt Health Care Authority's parallel efforts with these presidential initiatives, to provide health education to the citizens in general, and children in particular, about the need to follow healthy lifestyles including proper nutrition for children, to protect children from any potential diseases.

He noted that cases diagnosed with any diseases from the school students' medical examinations are referred to the health centers and units of the Egypt Health Care Authority under the new universal health insurance system in the aforementioned governorates, to complete the necessary examinations and dispense treatment for free. Also, the data and results of the medical examinations for these students are recorded in their electronic medical records according to the method followed according to the universal health insurance system, to monitor them periodically and continuously ensure their health condition, through 159 family medicine centers and units providing universal health insurance services in the four governorates.
