Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, participated in the China-Egypt Economic and Trade Exchange Forum 2025 held in Cairo. The forum stands as a major event strengthening the economic and investment ties between the two nations, particularly in priority sectors such as smart healthcare and digital health technologies.

In his keynote speech, Dr. El-Sobky emphasized:
"This event marks a significant milestone in the trajectory of Egypt-China economic relations. Today, we celebrate more than a decade since the elevation of Egyptian-Chinese relations to a strategic partnership, founded by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Xi Jinping. Thanks to the joint diplomatic efforts, we are witnessing tangible outcomes from this deep-rooted partnership."
Dr. El-Sobky announced that EHA signed a cooperation agreement with Snibe Diagnostics, a leading Chinese company in the field of laboratory diagnostics, to establish integrated diagnostic hubs in Egypt, bringing Chinese investments and advanced laboratory technologies into the country.
He further highlighted that this builds upon the existing fruitful cooperation between EHA and major Chinese technology giants, including Huawei and Mindray, noting that today's signing with Snibe adds another pillar to the growing Egypt-China health cooperation.
He also referred to the outcomes of his previous two official visits to China, where discussions focused on advancing biotechnology collaboration, expressing his ambition for Egypt to become a regional hub for biotechnology and genomic medicine.
"There is promising cooperation to transfer Chinese expertise in hospital construction according to the highest international standards, and to introduce the Smart Medical City model, similar to Huawei’s headquarters model," he added.
Addressing investors, Dr. El-Sobky urged:
"I invite all investors to visit Shenzhen, as Mayor Qin Weiqing also encouraged, to exchange expertise and strengthen relations. Egypt’s political and economic climate offers a favorable environment for investment, and China remains one of Egypt’s most important strategic partners in the Middle East and Africa."
