In conjunction with the celebration of the Global Heart Failure Awareness Week, the Egypt Healthcare Authority and the Egyptian Society of Cardiology have launched an awareness campaign under the slogan "Discover the Undiscovered" to raise awareness about heart failure.

The heart failure awareness campaign covers 13 governorates across the Republic and includes 45 facilities affiliated with the Egypt Healthcare Authority participating in the campaign.

The Egypt Healthcare Authority and the Egyptian Society of Cardiology launched an awareness campaign for heart failure under the slogan "Discover the Undiscovered," coinciding with the celebration of the Global Heart Failure Awareness Week.

The campaign, a first-time initiative between the Egypt Healthcare Authority and the Egyptian Society of Cardiology, includes facilities from the Egypt Healthcare Authority in the first-phase governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance system, covering the governorates of "Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan." The activities cover 13 governorates across the Arab Republic of Egypt and will continue until May 5.

The statement clarified that the governorates covered by this year's heart failure awareness campaign under the slogan "Discover the Undiscovered" include those implementing the Universal Health Insurance system, in addition to the governorates of "Cairo, Alexandria, Beheira, Minya, Assiut, Dakahlia, and Gharbia," targeting more than 60 health facilities in these governorates.

The health facilities conducting the campaign include those affiliated with the Egypt Healthcare Authority, university hospitals, and private sector hospitals. The campaign targets all community segments, including educating visitors to health facilities and holding educational seminars about heart failure, alongside distributing awareness leaflets prepared simply to reach the largest number of citizens.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and Supervisor General of the Universal Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, emphasized the importance of partnering with the private and civil sectors, particularly in spreading wider health awareness campaigns to reach a broad segment of citizens, ensuring quality of life which reflects on the well-being of Egyptians.

He expressed the importance of collaborating with the Egyptian Society of Cardiology for its leading role in preventing heart diseases like heart failure and high blood pressure, and its leadership in the Egyptian Awareness Campaign for Heart Failure Patients, in which Egypt participates for the year 2024, in cooperation with all relevant health entities in Egypt, sponsored by Novartis as a strategic partner of the Egypt Healthcare Authority in the cardiac field. He affirmed that the campaign is an opportunity to enhance awareness about the importance of care and guidance regarding this disease, which affects the lives of millions of people worldwide, noting that the Authority participates with 45 health facilities in the governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance system.

He added that the primary goal of launching and adopting awareness campaigns by the Egypt Healthcare Authority is to enhance citizens' awareness across different governorates about the causes of diseases, risk factors, prevention methods, early disease detection, and thereby reducing their severity and expediting their treatment, in addition to the health initiatives launched by the Authority, which align with the presidential initiatives aimed at providing integrated health services and care to the beneficiaries of the new Universal Health Insurance system at the highest quality levels and according to the latest internationally approved treatment guidelines and protocols.

Professor Magdy Abdel Hamid, Head of the Cardiology Department at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, and President of the Heart Failure Section at the Society and President of the Egyptian Awareness Campaign for Heart Failure Patients, valued the strategic partnership of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and the continuous efforts and cooperation and planning to support the campaign's targets, and to spread the campaign within the facilities of the Egypt Healthcare Authority in the governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance system, which positively reflects on the Egyptian patient.

He pointed to the active participation of 18 universities across the Arab Republic of Egypt and their effective contributions through holding numerous interactive scientific meetings to educate doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, emphasizing the concerted efforts of all health-related entities to intensify educational and awareness seminars for patients and their families in all health facilities to support the Egyptian Awareness Campaign for Heart Failure Patients.
