The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority participated in the opening of the Egyptian-French Business Forum in Paris.

The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority participated in the opening of the Egyptian-French Business Forum in Paris. He chaired a high-level session titled "The Medical and Health Sector: A Strategic Sector for Partnerships Between France and Egypt" within the forum's activities.

During the forum, the Chairman highlighted the business models and opportunities available for the private sector to engage in the universal health insurance system. He emphasized sectors such as infrastructure development, informatics, primary healthcare, private medical insurance, and hospital management as promising areas for private sector participation.

The Chairman underscored the role of Egyptian-French cooperation in achieving universal health coverage and supporting the implementation of the universal health insurance project through collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD) and Expertise France.

He emphasized that partnerships between the public and private sectors in healthcare are the Egypt Healthcare Authority's approach to achieving sustainability. The Chairman noted that Egypt is in a golden phase for attracting foreign investments in the health sector, which enhances the role of the private sector and provides an encouraging investment environment. He confirmed that the Egyptian political leadership pays great attention to supporting investment and sustainable development.

The Chairman remarked that Egyptian-French relations are strong in various fields, particularly healthcare, and the forum serves as an important platform to showcase Egypt's health reform successes and enhance cooperation with international partners.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, the Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and the supervisor of the universal health insurance project, led the discussions at the Egyptian-French Business Forum (Egypt - France Business Forum) held in Paris, aiming to strengthen economic relations between Egypt and France and explore new investment opportunities in various areas of mutual interest.

This significant event was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population; Dr. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; Dr. Hossam Heiba, Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI); Mr. Alaa Youssef, Egyptian Ambassador to France; Mr. Éric Chevallier, French Ambassador to Egypt; Mr. Jean-Pierre Bouvier, President of the French Healthcare Association; Mrs. Agnes Soucat, Director of Health and Social Protection at AFD; Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin, CEO of Business France; and Mr. Romain Guizard, Director of the company's office in Egypt, along with healthcare leaders and business community representatives from both Egypt and France.

Dr. El-Sobky chaired a high-level session titled "The Medical and Health Sector: A Strategic Sector for Partnerships Between France and Egypt." Participants included Mr. Jean-Pierre Bouvier, President of the French Healthcare Association; Mrs. Agnes Soucat, Director of Health and Social Protection at AFD; and Mr. Majid Sayed, Head of Public Affairs and Market Access in Africa at Sanofi.

The session provided an overview of Egypt's healthcare reform efforts and its pursuit of universal health coverage, discussed the support of the French government in implementing the universal health insurance system, and reviewed the Egypt Healthcare Authority's approach to enhancing partnerships between the public and private sectors and investing in the health sector. Opportunities for investment in the health sector were also highlighted, demonstrating how strategic partnerships with the private sector can improve healthcare services and contribute to sustainable development in Egypt.

Dr. El-Sobky showcased business models and opportunities available for private sector participation in the universal health insurance system at the forum, highlighting promising sectors such as infrastructure development, informatics, primary healthcare, private medical insurance, and hospital management. He also highlighted the role of Egyptian-French cooperation in achieving universal health coverage and supporting the implementation of the universal health insurance project through cooperation with AFD and Expertise France.

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that partnerships between the public and private sectors in the health sector are a fundamental approach of the Egypt Healthcare Authority to achieve sustainability, noting three business models that enhance this partnership. These include investing in infrastructure, such as building or upgrading medical cities and hospitals; partnering with the Authority in operating and managing developed health facilities; and an integrated model combining both building and operating comprehensive medical cities or hospitals in Egypt.

Dr. El-Sobky confirmed that Egypt is in a golden phase for attracting foreign investments in the health sector, which enhances the role of the private sector and provides an encouraging investment environment. He highlighted that the Egyptian political leadership pays significant attention to supporting investment and sustainable development.

Accompanying Dr. El-Sobky on his visit to France were Dr. Amir Telawani, the Executive Director of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, and Dr. Mazen Alaa El-Din, the General Supervisor of Cooperation with International Development Organizations and Assistant Director of the International Cooperation Administration at the Authority.

The Egyptian-French Business Forum is a prominent event that enhances the economic relations between Egypt and France, bringing together government representatives and the private sector from both sides. The forum aims to explore cooperation opportunities in multiple areas, including healthcare, technology, and investment, and seeks to attract French investments and enhance the role of the private sector in improving services, contributing to the realization of Egypt's Vision 2030.
