Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority: Over 3,000 beneficiaries have accessed services provided by the cardiac electrophysiology unit, with 474 pacemakers implanted and 25 ablation procedures performed to date.

Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority: We continue to deliver the best medical services in governorates under the universal health insurance system, expanding specialized healthcare services to enhance citizens' lives and advance the healthcare system in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The Egypt Healthcare Authority, under the chairmanship of Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, has announced the activation of a fully integrated cardiac electrophysiology unit for the first time in the governorates applying the universal health insurance system in the Canal Region.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky stated that this unit has been activated at the Nasr Specialized Hospital, affiliated with the Authority in Port Said Governorate. It is the first of its kind in the Canal Region and provides all diagnostic and treatment services in the field of cardiac electrophysiology using the latest devices and medical technologies. This achievement reflects the Authority's commitment to enhancing the quality of healthcare services and delivering advanced medical care to citizens as part of the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s system.

Dr. El-Sobky added that the new unit is a significant addition to the healthcare sector in the governorates applying the universal health insurance system in the Canal Region. The unit offers eight comprehensive services in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, including a dedicated cardiac electrophysiology clinic, programming clinic, and outpatient clinics for routine patient follow-ups. Additionally, it provides a Holter device clinic for recording cardiac electrical activity over a 24-hour period.

The unit also specializes in the implantation of pacemakers for treating cases of bradycardia and electrical conduction blockages, implantable cardioverter defibrillators for ventricular fibrillation, cardiac resynchronization therapy devices, and left bundle branch pacing devices. It also excels in conducting detailed electrophysiological studies to treat heart rhythm disorders using radiofrequency waves or three-dimensional ablation technologies.

Dr. El-Sobky confirmed that the unit has so far provided services to over 3,000 beneficiaries in the cardiac electrophysiology clinic, with 474 pacemakers implanted and 25 cardiac ablation procedures performed to treat electrical disorders. These figures reflect citizens' confidence in the high-quality medical services provided.

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that the Egypt Healthcare Authority remains committed to delivering the highest standards of medical care across all governorates applying the universal health insurance system. This commitment is fulfilled by strengthening and expanding specialized healthcare services, contributing to improving citizens’ quality of life and advancing the healthcare system in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 to achieve universal health coverage.
