Dr. Ahmed Al-Subki, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance System project, held a series of important meetings with senior international healthcare officials, in the presence of Consul Madonna Magdy, the Egyptian Consul at the Egyptian Embassy in Rwanda. The meetings discussed ways to strengthen mutual cooperation and exchange expertise in various healthcare fields, aiming to improve healthcare quality in Egypt and Africa, on the sidelines of his participation in the International Health Ministers Summit held in Kigali, Rwanda.
Dr. Al-Subki discussed with Dr. Maziyanga Lucy Mazaba, the Regional Director of the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), cooperation in primary healthcare, scientific research, and human capacity building, in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the African Union Agenda 2063.
During his meeting with Dr. David Franks, Vice President of Public Health at IQVIA Global in London, UK, the discussion revolved around enhancing cooperation to develop human capacity, applying technological solutions, and expanding research services in healthcare.
Dr. Al-Subki also addressed cooperation with Dr. Mortala Adugi Mohamed, the Founder and CEO of the System Strategy and Policy Lab, on health policy development, governance, and supporting technological innovation.
Additionally, Dr. Al-Subki discussed with Dr. Amit Thakar, CEO of the Africa Health Business Forum, opportunities to enhance cooperation in health system development, healthcare sector investments, and innovation in healthcare service delivery across Africa.
Dr. Al-Subki stressed the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation to achieve shared health goals and develop health systems worldwide, contributing to improving the quality and sustainability of healthcare services.
International officials praised the significant success of the Egyptian healthcare system. Dr. Maziyanga Lucy Mazaba emphasized that “the Egyptian health system is a model to be followed and we encourage African countries to study its pioneering experience in universal health coverage.” Dr. David Franks lauded the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s vision for developing and governing the health sector using technology, predicting it will lead in digital health in the region in the coming years.
Dr. Mortala Adugi Mohamed highlighted the importance of collaborating with the Egypt Healthcare Authority to promote innovation and develop health policies in the region. Meanwhile, Dr. Amit Thakar noted the significant transformation Egypt has made in healthcare development, with the Egypt Healthcare Authority playing a pioneering role in promoting medical innovations, positioning Egypt at the forefront of health transformation in Africa.
The meetings were attended by Dr. Ahmed Hamad, Senior Advisor to the President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority for Health Policies and Systems, Director of the Office of the President of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, Dr. Riham Salama, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Egypt Healthcare Authority.
These meetings are part of the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s strategy to strengthen regional and international partnerships and establish Egypt as a leading model in health systems development and achieving universal health coverage, improving the lives of millions in Egypt and across Africa.
