Through video conferencing, the Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority represented the North and East Mediterranean region and Africa at the 2024 inaugural meeting of the International Hospital Federation (IHF) Board of Governors.
The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority expressed eagerness for Egypt to host the 49th World Hospital Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2026. He emphasized the significance of enhancing communication and cooperation among hospitals worldwide, which maximizes the exchange of experiences and the improvement of clinical services according to the latest practices.
The Chairman further stated that Egypt's organization of the World Hospital Forum would mark a significant step towards reclaiming its regional and international standing in healthcare. He noted that the forum would provide an ideal opportunity to showcase the country's healthcare achievements and present investment opportunities in healthcare and medical tourism in Egypt.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, the Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, reviewed the IHF's annual report for 2023. He proposed adding a new package of services for the federation's members to enable all countries to benefit and open new horizons.
Dr. El-Sobky announced the Authority's membership in the IHF's International Digital Health Committee, reflecting the success of Egypt's experience in digitalizing comprehensive health insurance and utilizing technological solutions to serve the healthcare sector.
Dr. Roland Lefort, the Executive Director of the IHF, valued Egypt's participation in the federation's Board of Governors, acknowledging Egypt's pioneering experience in health development, reform, and clinical excellence. He highlighted that one of the federation's roles is to share successful experiences with all.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mazen Alaa El-Din, Supervisor of Cooperation with International Development Organizations.
