The Egypt Healthcare Authority, under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Board and Supervisor General of the universal health insurance and Haya Kareema projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, has announced the launch of the "Ramadan Health for the Whole Family" initiative across the provinces implementing the universal health insurance system, namely Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, and Suez, throughout the holy month of Ramadan, for the third consecutive year.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, stated that the "Ramadan Health for the Whole Family" initiative aims to provide free medical care to individuals with chronic diseases throughout Ramadan, offering comprehensive healthcare to prevent disease complications and promote health, in line with the Egyptian state's directives to launch health initiatives for early detection and control of diseases and their complications, thus preserving public health.
Dr. El-Sobky explained that the initiative targets medical monitoring for three categories of patients: those with diabetes, hypertension, and both conditions combined. Priority groups include the elderly, people with disabilities, the underprivileged, and those with high-risk medical conditions.
Dr. El-Sobky further stated that specialized mobile medical teams from family medicine centers and hospitals affiliated with the Egypt Healthcare Authority have been designated and trained to monitor the health status of individuals with chronic diseases, conduct early detection of complications, manage treatment protocols, and use various diagnostic equipment to provide services. He also noted that these teams would refer cases to higher levels of service within healthcare facilities as needed.
The initiative offers seven additional free services to promote health during Ramadan, including home medical follow-ups for individuals with chronic diseases, activation of remote medical consultation services with consultants and specialists through phone calls or the "ElBalto" app, home delivery of chronic medication, and comprehensive medical examinations for individuals with chronic diseases at family medicine centers and units affiliated with the Egypt Healthcare Authority. Additionally, mobile units will be available in the Canal and Upper Egypt regions to provide initiative services, along with awareness campaigns, distribution of booklets, and flyers to enhance health awareness about proper health guidelines, chronic diseases, and their prevention or complications throughout Ramadan.
Dr. El-Sobky also mentioned the extension of service hours at family medicine centers and hospitals affiliated with the Egypt Healthcare Authority until 9 PM for clinics and 10 PM for hospitals throughout Ramadan. The goal is to provide optimal and free medical care to individuals with chronic diseases in the six provinces implementing universal health insurance, emphasizing the importance of enhancing beneficiaries' trust in the Egypt Healthcare Authority's services and promoting health and prevention of chronic diseases in the community as key objectives of the initiative.
