The Egypt Healthcare Authority participated in the HIMSS Executive Summit 2024

The Egypt Healthcare Authority participated in the HIMSS Executive Summit 2024, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Authority took part in a session on artificial intelligence titled "EHA's Digital Health Revolution."

The Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority emphasized the adaptation of modern technologies and artificial intelligence solutions to ensure the provision of outstanding and efficient care, enhancing the patient experience in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.

The Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority expressed anticipation to obtain international accreditation for health technology services from HIMSS within the current year.

The Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority highlighted that the achievements in mechanization and digital transformation within the Authority reflected the close cooperation between the Egypt Healthcare Authority, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and other relevant state agencies.


The Egypt Healthcare Authority participated in a panel discussion on artificial intelligence and healthcare technology in Egypt at the HIMSS 2024 Executive Summit. The event, themed "Creating Tomorrow's Health," took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Mai El-Meligy, Director of Applications and Systems at the Egypt Healthcare Authority, represented Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and Supervisor General of the Comprehensive Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population. She presented a journey of digital transformation at the Authority, including a presentation titled "EHA's Digital Health Revolution."

The statement from the Authority detailed that the session showcased the Authority's efforts and achievements in enhancing medical and therapeutic services through optimal use of mechanization and digital transformation. This includes the use of innovative and modern technology that improves comfort, efficiency, and accessibility to healthcare for users within the system. The session also covered the comprehensive health insurance applications and the electronic health system implemented by the Authority and its facilities across provinces, featuring an all-encompassing electronic health system that allows integration in the patient care cycle, from online booking to services provided in primary healthcare centers and referrals to hospitals, plus feedback on all data related to services provided in hospitals, culminating in the electronic health records of patients in centers and units.

The statement also mentioned that the session discussed the latest information management systems used in the Authority's health facilities, such as the Clinical Information Management System (HIS), the Unified Electronic Laboratories (LIS), and the Electronic Radiology Archiving (PACS). It highlighted the complete mechanization of health services in family medicine centers and units, which has been fully achieved, as well as the final phase of hospital mechanization, including the complete mechanization of kidney dialysis departments.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky affirmed the ongoing digital transformation of all operational inputs within the Authority to enhance all aspects of healthcare and maximize the benefits of modern technologies and artificial intelligence solutions. This ensures the delivery of outstanding and effective care that enhances the patient experience sustainably. He pointed out the Authority's continuous efforts to achieve its vision of providing excellent, effective, and innovative healthcare for everyone.

He mentioned that the Egypt Healthcare Authority is the first entity in the Arab world and

Africa to use the latest international coding systems, ICD11, certified by the World Health Organization. The Authority also received the Platinum Award in Digital Health Leadership in the Arab world. Dr. El-Sobky expressed aspirations for the Authority to obtain international accreditation for health technology services from HIMSS this year.

He added that Egypt has achieved an unprecedented leap in the mechanization of health services in family medicine centers and hospitals, as recognized by the World Health Organization. He emphasized that these achievements in mechanization reflect the close collaboration between the Egypt Healthcare Authority, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and other relevant governmental bodies.
