In Celebration of the New Year and Preparations for Christmas Festivities
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, held a virtual meeting via Zoom to oversee the medical preparedness for the holiday season across the governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance System. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Health and Population’s plan to ensure comprehensive healthcare services during the celebrations, prioritizing public health and safety.
Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that 302 healthcare facilities under the Authority’s supervision across the first-phase governorates—Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, and Suez—remain on high alert. Medical teams in emergency departments and critical care units have been reinforced, while emergency and crisis management rooms are operational 24/7 to provide rapid responses and uphold the highest standards of medical services.
Highlighting the centrality of emergency services, Dr. El-Sobky affirmed that these services are delivered within an integrated system, operating round-the-clock with defined care pathways designed to expedite treatment and ensure a secure and calm environment for patients. He declared, “Emergency services are a red line, and we are committed to delivering the necessary care in all circumstances.”
Since the launch of the Universal Health Insurance System in 2019, the Authority has provided over 9 million emergency services, benefitting more than 5.9 million cases at the emergency and reception departments of its healthcare facilities. This achievement underscores the significant efforts invested in ensuring the well-being of citizens.
Dr. El-Sobky noted that the Authority operates 35 hospitals and medical complexes across the six governorates of the first phase. These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art medical technologies, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive and efficient healthcare services that meet the highest quality standards.
Recognizing the importance of skilled personnel, Dr. El-Sobky stated that the Authority places a strong focus on continuous training programs for medical teams to uphold the highest standards of emergency care. The Authority also ensures standardized and streamlined operations across emergency departments, with a steadfast commitment to providing top-tier healthcare services that maximize patient satisfaction.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. El-Sobky reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to maintaining safe and comprehensive healthcare services, especially during high-demand periods such as festive seasons. This commitment aligns with the Authority’s mission to establish a leading model for healthcare in Egypt, ensuring the health and safety of its citizens.
