Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, held a meeting at the Authority's main headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to review the latest developments regarding electronic systems in the authority and its affiliated healthcare facilities across Universal Health Insurance system provinces.

Dr. El-Sobky reviewed the updates related to the development of electronic systems and discussed future plans for integrating these systems to maximize the benefits of technology in continuing to improve the level of services and healthcare.

He announced the launch of the pilot operation of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system across 18 healthcare facilities and 6 subsidiary warehouses for medical supplies and medications in the provinces implementing the Universal Health Insurance system.

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that Egypt Healthcare Authority is the first government entity to implement the ERP system, which will significantly improve operational efficiency and resource management. He noted that the system will be fully operational across all healthcare facilities under Egypt Healthcare Authority in Universal Health Insurance provinces by early 2025.

Furthermore, Dr. El-Sobky confirmed that 52 employees were trained on the ERP system at the basic level, with advanced-level training to be completed soon. He also instructed the General Branch Affairs Administration to carry out field monitoring and regular evaluations of the trainees at healthcare facilities to assess training effectiveness and ensure high-quality performance.

He added that after the first phase of ERP is completed, the upcoming phases will include integration with Asset Management, Human Resources (HITS), and Financial Management systems, as part of the authority’s full integration of electronic systems. He directed the planning and coordination teams to establish time-bound plans to complete these phases.

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized the need for the formation of high-level committees, including the executive director and technical teams, experts, and external consultants, to identify the components of electronic systems and ensure their alignment with Egypt Healthcare Authority’s vision and objectives, guaranteeing their quality and sustainability.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of holding workshops and establishing partnerships with the private sector and internationally accredited institutions to benefit from successful experiences in the deployment of electronic systems during the planning and pilot operation phases at Egypt Healthcare Authority and its affiliated facilities to ensure their quality and compliance with global standards.

Dr. El-Sobky also directed continuous monitoring and updating of the authority’s electronic systems based on pilot operation results and the evolving needs of operations, focusing on Human Resources (HITS) systems, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), and real-time performance monitoring dashboards.

He followed up on the latest updates regarding the automation of operations, emergency services, intensive care, and oncology at healthcare facilities under Egypt Healthcare Authority. He emphasized the importance of the seamless integration of automation models to achieve high levels of efficiency and quality in workflows, and further stressed the creation of a Data Warehouse to support decision-making processes and improve performance and quality of care for citizens.

In conclusion, Dr. El-Sobky reiterated the importance of advancing digital transformation and adopting the latest technologies in healthcare development, highlighting that electronic systems significantly enhance the efficiency of healthcare services, data accuracy, and decision-making speed, all of which positively impact the quality of care provided to citizens.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, advisors from Egypt Healthcare Authority, along with directors and officials from key departments, including the Digital Transformation, Institutional Support Services, Financial Affairs, Healthcare and Treatment Services, Supply, Branch Affairs, Human Resources, and Monitoring & Evaluation Departments.
