Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, met with Evangelos Chrysafidis, Public Sector Director at Microsoft for Central, South, and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa, along with the accompanying delegation from Microsoft.

The Microsoft delegation included Greg Wilson, Global Public Sector Technology Leader, Mirna Arif, General Manager of Microsoft Egypt, Mohamed Kassem, Government Sector Lead for Microsoft Egypt, Ahmed Atiya, Strategic Accounts Manager for Microsoft Egypt, and Ashraf Gawda, Strategic Accounts Strategist for Microsoft Egypt.

The meeting aimed to explore avenues for joint cooperation between the two sides in the fields of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in healthcare, applying the latest technological advancements to enhance the quality and efficiency of health services provided through the Authority's facilities in the provinces of the first phase of the Comprehensive Health Insurance System.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky confirmed that there are four main areas of collaboration with Microsoft: implementing an electronic ERP system in the Authority, its branches, and healthcare facilities in the first-phase provinces; training and capacity building for the Authority’s staff; utilizing AI and virtual services in medical diagnosis; and managing health data digitally to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and effectiveness in provided health services.

Dr. El-Sobky added: "We look forward to achieving a new success story in the field of digital transformation with Microsoft." He noted, "All of our primary healthcare facilities in the six provinces of the first phase of the Comprehensive Health Insurance System – Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan – are now fully digitized. We have 52 hospitals where all processes are digitized using digital technology."

He highlighted the Authority's achievements in digitalizing health services in the provinces implementing the Comprehensive Health Insurance System, including the issuance of 250 million digitally archived radiology images and 54 million electronic prescriptions.

Evangelos Chrysafidis, Microsoft's Public Sector Director for Central, South, and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa, expressed his pleasure in cooperating with the Healthcare Authority. He said, "Microsoft believes in the importance of technology in improving the health sector. We have an ambitious vision to support digital transformation in this vital sector in Egypt. We strive to provide the latest AI solutions and digital technologies that will enhance healthcare quality, improve patient experience, and increase operational efficiency within the health system."

He emphasized the importance of utilizing AI to enable a more prosperous digital future in Egypt, noting that Microsoft focuses on developing AI innovations in healthcare services, keeping pace with the unprecedented global advances in the medical field.

From the Healthcare Authority, the meeting was attended by Dr. Amir El-Telwani, Executive Director of the Authority, Dr. Ahmed Hamad, Advisor to the Chairman for Health Policies and Systems and General Director of the Chairman’s Technical Office, Dr. Gamal Rattaba, Advisor to the Chairman for Actuarial Studies and Head of the Central Administration for Institutional Support Services, Dr. Mahmoud El-Shehat, General Director of Internal Audit, Dr. Wael Omran, Assistant Executive Director for Operations and Supply and General Director of Administrative Affairs, Engineer Mohamed Taher, Director of Crisis and Disaster Management, and Dr. Riham Shash, International Cooperation Officer at the Vision Realization and Partnerships Office.
