On the sidelines of the International Health Ministers Summit in Rwanda, the Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, Dr. Ahmed El-Sebki, held a series of important meetings with senior international officials to discuss ways to enhance collaborative efforts and exchange expertise in healthcare across Africa. The summit was held in Kigali, Rwanda.
Dr. El-Sebki met with Dr. Mazinga Lucy Mazaba, Regional Director of the Africa CDC, where they discussed areas of cooperation in primary healthcare, scientific research, and human capacity building, aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
In his meeting with Dr. David Franks, Vice President of Public Health at IQVIA, the conversation centered on boosting collaboration in human capacity development, technological solutions, and healthcare research services.
Dr. El-Sebki also discussed strategies for enhancing health policies, governance, and fostering technological innovation with Dr. Mortala Adugi Mohamed, Founder and CEO of the System Strategy and Policy Lab in Africa.
Additionally, he explored opportunities to develop healthcare systems and sector investments with Dr. Amit Takhar, Head of the Africa Health Business Forum, focusing on innovative healthcare service delivery.
Dr. El-Sebki reaffirmed the Egypt Healthcare Authority's commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation to achieve shared health goals and further develop healthcare systems globally, improving healthcare quality and sustainability.
International officials praised the success of the Egyptian healthcare system, with Dr. Mazinga Lucy Mazaba noting, "The Egyptian healthcare system is a model to be followed, and we encourage African countries to study its pioneering experience in universal healthcare coverage." Dr. David Franks commended the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s vision for developing the healthcare sector and its governance using technology, predicting that Egypt would lead in digital health within the region in the coming years.
Dr. Mortala Adugi Mohamed emphasized the importance of collaborating with the Egypt Healthcare Authority to enhance innovation and develop health policies in the region. Meanwhile, Dr. Amit Takhar highlighted Egypt’s transformative success in developing the healthcare sector and the leading role played by the Egypt Healthcare Authority in promoting medical innovations, positioning Egypt at the forefront of health transformation in Africa.
The meetings were attended by Dr. Ahmed Hamad, Health Systems and Policies Advisor to the Chairman and Director of the General Office of the Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority, and Dr. Riham Salama, Director of International Cooperation at Egypt Healthcare Authority.
These meetings are part of the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s strategy to enhance regional and international partnerships, solidifying Egypt's position as a leading model in healthcare system development and achieving universal healthcare coverage, ultimately improving the lives of millions in Egypt and Africa.
