Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, President of the Egypt Health Care Authority, met with Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, Minister of Health of Zimbabwe, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation.

Dr. El-Sobky discussed cooperation with Zimbabwe to transfer Egypt's pioneering experience in health reform and universal health coverage and to enhance bilateral healthcare cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. El-Sobky also discussed cooperation with the Zimbabwean Health Minister in the field of developing medical tourism and providing treatment services for international patients from Zimbabwe in Egypt.

Dr. El-Sobky mentioned that cooperation with Zimbabwe would include exchanging visits and expertise and training healthcare providers from Zimbabwe in the Authority's hospitals to enhance their efficiency and develop their skills, thus promoting the advancement of the healthcare sector in Africa.

Dr. El-Sobky confirmed the implementation of political leadership directives to provide full support to brothers in African countries and to enhance advanced and fair healthcare for all.

The Zimbabwean Health Minister inspected the Egypt Health Care Authority's pavilion at the African Health Exhibition and praised the significant development and technological progress achieved by the Authority in Egypt's healthcare system, keeping up with the latest global standards.

The Zimbabwean Health Minister praised Egypt's efforts under the leadership of President El-Sisi in continuously supporting African countries and stated: "The Egyptian experience in health reform and achieving universal health coverage is inspiring, and we look forward to transferring these experiences to enhance and develop the healthcare sector in our country."


Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, President of the Egypt Health Care Authority and Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance and Hayat Karema projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, met with Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, Minister of Health of Zimbabwe, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation, during the Africa Health ExCon 2024 events.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. El-Sobky welcomed the Zimbabwean Health Minister, expressing Egypt's pride in its bilateral relations with the brotherly nation of Zimbabwe and the aim to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields. He showcased the Egyptian state's efforts in health reform and the modern Egyptian health system's successes globally and before international health organizations.

Dr. El-Sobky pointed to the achievements of the Egypt Health Care Authority in organizing the provision of healthcare services to citizens in provinces implementing the universal health insurance system, through infrastructure development, health information systems, human resources training and development, digitization and digital transformation of services, and the application of clinical governance, among other efforts that contribute to providing the best services and healthcare to citizens and achieving the highest satisfaction rates with the service.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation to transfer the unique Egyptian experience in health reform to Zimbabwe and the success stories in healthcare. Dr. El-Sobky affirmed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to provide full support to African nations to achieve development in the healthcare sector across the continent and enhance sustainable development.

Dr. El-Sobky added that cooperation with Zimbabwe would include developing medical tourism, providing treatment services for international patients from Zimbabwe in Egypt, and would also encompass exchanging visits and expertise, training healthcare providers from Zimbabwe in the Authority's hospitals to enhance their efficiency, and developing their skills to uplift the healthcare sector in Africa.

The Zimbabwean Health Minister praised Egypt's role under President El-Sisi's leadership in continuously supporting African nations, providing Egyptian expertise in various fields, especially healthcare, and the significant progress seen at all levels, including health planning, health facility development, human resource training, digitization, and digital transformation of services, and healthcare service marketing.

The Minister expressed his desire to transfer these experiences to Zimbabwe, especially the universal health insurance project, to ensure the provision of the best healthcare services to citizens, considering the Egyptian experience as inspiring in this regard. He confirmed his anticipation for more cooperation in health fields in the upcoming period.

It should be noted that the visit of the Zimbabwean Health Minister included inspecting the Egypt Health Care Authority's pavilion at the Africa Health ExCon, where he praised the significant development and technological progress the Authority has achieved in Egypt's healthcare system, which keeps pace with the latest global standards.

The Africa Health ExCon is held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, under the slogan "Your Gateway to Innovation and Trade," at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo, from June 3 to 6, this year.
