The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: The medical advisory council of the authority includes prominent scientific figures from the best Egyptian national talents with international recognition. The council serves as a professional medical arm that contributes to achieving the authority's vision of providing a developed healthcare model with international standards.

The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: Three new specialties are added to the new structure of the medical advisory council, including "Dermatology and Venereology," "Chest Diseases," and "Orthopedic and Spinal Surgeries." He confirms: We aim to achieve the highest possible health outcomes in various specialties.

The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority: The medical advisory council plays a pivotal role in "setting unified policies and strategies to provide healthcare services with clinical excellence," "continuous medical education strategies," "reviewing treatment protocols for clinical departments in the authority's facilities," and "monitoring and evaluating medical performance."


Dr. Ahmed El-Sebki, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, issued Decision No. (57) of 2024, to reconstitute the medical advisory council of the Egypt Healthcare Authority. The council is chaired by Professor Dr. Sherif Wadie, Professor and Head of the Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Management at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University. The decision also appointed Major General Doctor Murad Alfi, a Consultant in Pediatrics, Neonatology, and Preterm Infants at the Armed Forces Hospitals, as the Deputy Chairman of the council.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sebki, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, expressed his trust and praise for the medical advisory council, emphasizing that it includes some of the most distinguished scientific figures from Egypt, who are internationally recognized. These experts, through their knowledge, experience, and dedication, will make a difference in the clinical excellence path for the authority’s healthcare facilities within the Universal Health Insurance System, which is the future of Egypt’s health sector.

Dr. El-Sebki highlighted the importance of the medical advisory council's role in setting unified policies and strategies for providing healthcare services with clinical excellence. Additionally, the council will work on developing continuous medical education strategies, reviewing treatment protocols for clinical departments in the authority’s facilities, and monitoring and evaluating medical performance to ensure that all healthcare services adhere to the highest standards.

He added that three new specialties have been incorporated into the new structure of the medical advisory council, including "Dermatology and Venereology," "Chest Diseases," and "Orthopedic and Spinal Surgeries." He confirmed the authority's continuous pursuit of achieving the best health outcomes across various specialties. The council is made up of a distinguished group of university professors, experts, and consultants from various medical fields, including:

  • Professor Dr. Hossam Mohamed Kamel – Professor Emeritus of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at the National Cancer Institute and Former President of Cairo University.
  • Professor Dr. Maha El-Rabbat – Professor Emeritus of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at Cairo University and Former Minister of Health and Population.
  • Professor Dr. Hussein Khaled – Professor of Oncology, Chairman of the Medical Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, and Former Minister of Higher Education.
  • Professor Dr. Hossam Hosny – Professor of Chest Diseases at Cairo University and Secretary-General of the Egyptian Health Council.
  • Professor Dr. Hany Nasr – Scientific Consultant in Ophthalmology and Former Head of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes.
  • Professor Dr. Hossam El-Masri – Assistant Secretary-General of the Cabinet for Medical Affairs and Medical Advisor to the Presidency of the Cabinet.
  • Professor Dr. Safaa Salah Ismail – Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Helwan University.
  • Professor Dr. Ayman El-Khatib – Professor of Pharmacy and Toxicology at Cairo University, and Vice-President of the Egyptian Drug Authority.
  • Major General Dr. Hazem Khamis – Consultant of Cardiovascular Diseases at the National Heart Institute and Director of Wadi El-Nile Hospital.
  • Major General Dr. Alaa Ghita – Consultant of Surgery and Director of the Military Medical Complex in Kobri El-Kobba.
  • Professor Dr. Ahmed Yousef Gamal – Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, Misr University for Science and Technology.
  • Professor Dr. Samir El-Gazzar – Professor Emeritus of Respiratory Physiotherapy and Internal Diseases at Cairo University.
  • Professor Dr. Nagwa Eid – Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine at Cairo University.
  • Professor Dr. Maha Hamdi El-Sayed – Professor and Head of the Dermatology and Venereology Department at Ain Shams University, and President of the Dermatology Scientific Council at the Egyptian Fellowship.
  • Professor Dr. Osama Abdel-Raouf El-Shazly – Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Ain Shams University.
  • Professor Dr. Mohamed Murad Yousef – Consultant of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes.
  • Professor Dr. Hamdy Nabawy Mostafa – Professor of Neurosurgery at Misr University for Science and Technology.

Additionally, the technical secretariat of the medical advisory council is chaired by Dr. Aya Said Suleiman, with the membership of Dr. Hala Adel Araqi, Dr. Hoda Karam Mohamed, and Mr. Bassam Said Abdel-Aziz.
