In collaboration with the Saudi company SELAT for Business Solutions, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, the head of the Egypt Health Care Authority, chaired a workshop on Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) aimed at defining financial targets and maximizing resources in healthcare facilities within the provinces implementing the comprehensive health insurance system.
Dr. El-Sobky described the workshop as a strategic step to exchange and deepen expertise and enhance efficiency and optimal resource utilization within the healthcare system. He emphasized the importance of maximizing revenue and achieving the best financial management practices, stating that SELAT is a crucial partner in the success of the healthcare authority.
The workshop aims to apply successful models for more effective resource allocation and operational efficiency, supporting informed decision-making in setting financial goals and increasing revenues of healthcare facilities, with plans for annual increases. Dr. El-Sobky affirmed that implementing these models would help develop strategies for optimal resource use and other health and preventive strategies to enhance health efficiency and maintain community health quality.
Dr. El-Sobky also mentioned that an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system would soon be activated within the authority. This system will play a significant role in digitalizing and managing the revenue cycle, facilitating data exchange among different departments in healthcare facilities and providing a comprehensive and integrated view of financial and operational data, which will enhance the improvement of reporting processes and integration with patient management systems effectively.
He highlighted the importance of leveraging international expertise to reduce healthcare costs in the authority’s facilities without compromising the quality of care provided. This is parallel to enhancing resource efficiency to achieve realistic, balanced, and successful goals.
Dr. El-Sobky stressed the commitment to ongoing workshops to exchange expertise and build strong healthcare leadership that keeps pace with global developments, enhancing innovation and development to elevate Egypt's global competitiveness in healthcare. He noted that future phases would see the development of services and the transfer of successful experiences to the healthcare authority on all levels, locally, regionally, and internationally.
He affirmed the cooperation between the public and private sectors contributes to the implementation of best practices and achieves sustainable health development, emphasizing the importance of periodically updating plans according to developments in healthcare.
