Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority, Assistant Minister of Health and Population, General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, received a delegation from representatives of the Abbott Group of the Global ABOT Group, comprising Dr. Karim Mohsen, Director-General of Abbott Egypt, Dr. Nagy Helmy, Director of Pharmaceutical Policy and Government Relations, Dr. Mohamed Qasim, Director of the Marketing Sector, and Dr. Amgad Ibrahim, Director of the Government Sector, to discuss joint cooperation.
The meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Authority in Nasr, discussed ways of cooperation between the parties in the area of electronic health and communication medicine, thereby contributing to the improvement and development of health services for patients and as an effective and safe means of reaching out to members of the health team to share expertise in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of cases with the latest clinical techniques and protocols, as well as for the exchange of experiences with specialized medical personnel from around the world.
The meeting examined ways of cooperating in the training of health-care service providers in various specialties, thereby contributing to the acquisition of more technological, cognitive and vocational skills, upgrading their efficiency and continuing to improve the health-care services provided to patients, as well as in the launching of health-awareness campaigns for the users of comprehensive health insurance, thereby enhancing their health awareness about diseases and how to prevent them from becoming infected and improving the level of health care provided to them.
The meeting discussed ways to cooperate in applying the concepts of health-care economics to all resources of the health facilities of the Authority, which are based on the use of state-of-the-art studies, research, scientific evidence and advanced administrative and financial procedures, in order to achieve the Agency strategy of expanding health services, reducing costs, reaching the highest rates of satisfaction of users, achieving clinical excellence and ensuring the sustainability of health-care delivery by global standards.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky pointed out that this meeting was part of a concerted effort to strengthen cooperation in building a better future for the health-care sector. He stressed the importance of relying on health-care techniques that contribute to a better and faster diagnosis and treatment of diseases, focusing on digital technologies and telemedicine, developing the skills of service providers, promoting health awareness among citizens and promoting the application of concepts of health economics, thereby enhancing the efficiency of health-care systems and ensuring a more sustainable future for all in the world.
The Authority interest in sharing medical knowledge, experience and successful international experience was confirmed by its efforts to provide scientific and more innovative solutions to health care, in order to meet the needs of the users of universal health insurance and all clients of health-care services and to improve the outcomes of patients. It is in line with its vision of providing an advanced model of health care and promoting the achievement of the goals of Egypt Vision 2030 for comprehensive and sustainable development in the field of health care.
For its part, the delegation of representatives of the Abbott Group of the World Health Organization (Abbott Group) welcomed the continued development of the health-care system and comprehensive health reform in Egypt, the pioneering Egyptian experience in universal health coverage, the achievements of the Health-care Authority in rapid development and the fact that it had medical facilities at this level of equipment, which provided the best health services through the availability of high-level professional staff, state-of-the-art electronic equipment, systems and techniques, and looked forward to cooperation and the consolidation of relations with the Care Authority, which would achieve many successes in the health-care sector in the coming period.
