Egypt Healthcare Authority Launches "Teeth" Oral Health Campaign in Port Said

Teeth,” Egypt Healthcare Authority Launches Its 2025 Oral and Gum Health Awareness Campaign from Port Said Governorate

The Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA), chaired by Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, announced the launch of its 2025 Oral and Gum Health Awareness Campaign under the slogan "Your Health... Hold On to It with Your Hands and Teeth." This marks the third consecutive year of the campaign, which was officially launched from Port Said Governorate, the first governorate to implement the new Universal Health Insurance system.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky emphasized that the campaign targets raising awareness among school students, children, and their families about the importance of maintaining oral, dental, and gum health. The initiative aims to instill preventive health habits from an early age, contributing to building a health-conscious generation that will positively impact the future of Egypt's healthcare system.

He added that the campaign aims to reach 300,000 citizens in Port Said alone by the end of April 2025, offering free oral health screenings and interactive awareness sessions. Specially equipped mobile clinics are touring schools and neighborhoods across the governorate to ensure services are accessible to all target groups.

Dr. El-Sobky highlighted that the first and second phases of the campaign covered five governorates under the Universal Health Insurance umbrella, successfully providing medical screenings and awareness sessions to over 1.2 million citizens — a testament to EHA’s commitment to expanding preventive healthcare services and promoting comprehensive health.

He further explained that the campaign is part of the Authority’s pioneering initiatives launched annually as part of its strategy to improve quality of life and achieve universal health coverage. The Authority continues to develop its preventive and awareness programs in partnership with the community to ensure sustainable health education and facilitate service accessibility.

Dr. El-Sobky stressed the critical role of infection prevention and control, particularly hand hygiene, in achieving universal health coverage. He pointed out the importance of raising awareness among children about preventive measures and teaching them healthy habits practically. Interactive educational activities are being employed to make handwashing a fun and engaging practice, recognizing that hand hygiene is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, especially viral infections.

The “Your Health... Hold On to It with Your Hands and Teeth” campaign truck, which tours schools and various neighborhoods in Port Said, is equipped with handwashing stations designed to train children on proper handwashing techniques with soap and water. It also offers preliminary oral health screenings for visitors of all age groups.

The campaign is launched in partnership with Unilever Egypt, reflecting the Authority’s belief in the importance of public-private sector collaboration. This partnership emphasizes the private sector’s social responsibility and its vital role in promoting healthy lifestyles. It highlights the Authority’s comprehensive healthcare approach — one that extends beyond treatment to encompass prevention and the promotion of healthy living, ultimately building stronger, healthier, and more aware generations. This, in turn, contributes to reducing the overall healthcare burden on the Egyptian state.
