Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: Completion of Accreditation for 253 Healthcare Facilities Across Six Governorates Implementing the Universal Health Insurance System
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, announced the successful accreditation of 253 healthcare facilities under the Authority’s management in six governorates: Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, Aswan, South Sinai, and Luxor. These efforts are part of the broader implementation of the Universal Health Insurance System.
The Authority reported that accreditation rates in these governorates reached 100% in Port Said, 94% in Ismailia, 91% in Luxor, 80% in South Sinai, 75% in Suez, and 60% in Aswan. Dr. El-Sobky highlighted that these achievements reflect the Authority’s commitment to adhering to the highest quality standards in delivering healthcare services.
Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that the Healthcare Authority is the largest entity in Egypt to own accredited healthcare facilities across both public and private sectors. The accreditation of these facilities was conducted by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR), the national body responsible for ensuring compliance with international quality and safety standards. This achievement guarantees the delivery of world-class healthcare services and reinforces public trust in the Universal Health Insurance System.
He further explained that the accreditation process by GAHAR involves a comprehensive evaluation of all performance aspects within healthcare facilities, including the quality of medical care, patient safety, and the use of advanced technologies. This ongoing effort contributes to the continuous improvement of healthcare services and the establishment of an integrated and sustainable healthcare system that meets the needs of citizens in all governorates where the Universal Health Insurance System is implemented.
Dr. El-Sobky affirmed that the Authority remains committed to its strategic plan to expand the accreditation of healthcare facilities across all participating governorates. This initiative aligns with Egypt's Vision 2030 for advancing the healthcare sector and ensuring its sustainability. The Authority is focused on strengthening collaboration with GAHAR and other local and international partners to implement cutting-edge standards and technologies that support the quality and sustainability of healthcare services provided to all citizens.
