The Council of Ministers announces the official operation of the Universal health insurance system in South Sinai as of January 1

The head of Egypt Healthcare Authority confirms the state’s interest in developing the health care system and gradually extending Universal health insurance to Egyptians in order to achieve Universal health coverage and reach Egypt’s 2030 goals.

The Chairman of the Health Care Authority appreciates the role of the Ministries of Health and Finance and the South Sinai Governorate in supporting the Universal health insurance system.

Chairman of the Health Care Authority: The official operation of the Universal health insurance system in South Sinai reflects the Authority’s success in developing the health care system in the governorate and its health facilities conforming to the highest international quality standards and obtaining registration and accreditation.

Chairman of the Health Care Authority: The official operation of the Universal health insurance system in South Sinai guarantees protection and financial coverage for beneficiaries of the system’s services in the governorate and activates the claims system between the Health Care Authority and the Universal Health Insurance Authority.

Chairman of the Health Care Authority: More than one million medical and therapeutic services have been provided in the authority’s health facilities to beneficiaries of Universal health insurance in South Sinai so far, including 293,000 services in hospital outpatient clinics, 517,000 medical and laboratory examinations, and 6,800 advanced operations and surgeries.

Chairman of the Health Care Authority: Conducting more than 100,000 Universal medical examinations for beneficiaries in the authority’s family medicine centers and units in South Sinai, 120,000 visits to family medicine clinics, 36,000 visits to dental clinics, and more than 7,000 visits to internal medicine, women and children’s clinics.

Chairman of the Health Care Authority: Availability of specialized medical services and community care for patients with various forms of disabilities within the Authority’s health facilities in South Sinai, and activating the provision of therapeutic and rehabilitative services for patients with autism spectrum disorders.

Chairman of the Health Care Authority: More than 100,000 citizens have registered in the Universal health insurance system in South Sinai, which is the highest rate of citizen registration in the system among the governorates.

Chairman of the Health Care Authority: 31 health facilities to provide integrated health care services to the people of South Sinai, including 8 hospitals, 23 family medicine centers and units, and the transfer of the affiliation of 27 health facilities to the Authority has been completed so far.

Within the framework of the announcement of the Council of Ministers, headed by Professor Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, His Excellency the Prime Minister, the official start of operation of the Universal health insurance system in South Sinai Governorate, as of the first of this January, after the success of the General Authority for Health Care in the trial operation of the system in South Sinai, the fourth governorate. Al-Sobky added that work is underway on 4 new health projects to complete the entire Universal health insurance system in South Sinai by June 2024. They are the establishment of “Fayrouz Medical Complex, Dahab Hospital,” as well as the development of “Nuweiba Hospital, Wadi Firan Family Medical Center.”

El-Sobky noted that more than one million medical and therapeutic services have been provided in health facilities affiliated with the General Authority for Health Care to beneficiaries of Universal health insurance services in South Sinai so far, including 293,000 services in outpatient clinics in hospitals, 517,000 medical and laboratory examinations, and 6,800 advanced operations and surgeries.

He added that more than 100,000 Universal medical examinations have been conducted for beneficiaries in the family medicine centers and units affiliated with the South Sinai Health Care Authority so far, and that the average frequency of visits to the family medicine clinics in the centers and units has reached more than 120,000 visits, and the frequency of visits to dental clinics has also reached. More than 36,000 visits, in addition to more than 7,000 visits to internal medicine, women’s and children’s clinics.
