Dr. Ahmed El Sobky, Chairman of the Health Care Authority and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance and Decent Life projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, met with a delegation from Vodafone Egypt, at the Health Care Authority’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The Vodafone delegation was represented by Eng. Ahmed Ali Imam, Head of the Digital Healthcare Sector at Vodafone Egypt, Eng. Hossam Afifi, Business Development Director of the Digital Healthcare Sector, and Eng. Abdel Rahman Mohamed, Director of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project at Vodafone.

The meeting discussed many ideas and proposals that enhance the strategic partnership with Vodafone Egypt regarding the automation of the comprehensive health insurance system, in a way that supports digital transformation processes, most notably the technological infrastructure, health information technology, telehealth solutions and applications, telemedicine and medical tourism. And the Internet of Things.

Dr. Ahmed El Sobky directed that a technical workshop be held with the company in cooperation between the executive directors of the Health Care Authority and the Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority, based on real needs of beneficiaries and providers and financiers of medical services on the ground to come up with recommendations capable of meeting the needs of beneficiaries and achieving maximum digital benefit in cooperation with The company aims to achieve the highest levels of beneficiary satisfaction, given that the comprehensive health insurance project is a solid social project that places the Egyptian citizen as its top priority.

While the Chairman of the Health Care Authority discussed with the Vodafone delegation, ways of cooperating with the company to support the medical tourism file and the company’s various mechanisms that can be utilized and adapted by providing packages of innovative digital solutions and taking advantage of the Internet of Things (IOT) in a way that enhances the tourists’ experience and supports the promotion of the Authority’s project. Health care for medical tourism under the authority’s brand slogan, “We take care of you in Egypt.”

During the meeting, ways of future cooperation with Vodafone were discussed to provide a digital platform that provides updated technical solutions that can be used to provide better and more effective health care. This platform will enhance telemedicine, remote medical consultations or provide a second opinion. Opinion" between the Authority's facilities in the various governorates, especially remote governorates or those of a different geographical nature, as well as adapting these technical solutions and Vodafone's international expertise to support the Authority's international partnerships in the health care sector, and transferring the comprehensive health insurance experience.

It was also discussed how to benefit from the technical solutions and innovative technological packages provided by Vodafone to support the application of the Internet of Things in the field of healthcare (IOT), starting with the Suez Medical Complex, which will be the first fully digital hospital in Egypt.

Dr. Ahmed El Sobky appreciated Vodafone’s efforts over the past 4 years as the technology partner with the Egyptian government in the comprehensive health insurance project, which is carried out in partnership between the public and private sectors, which ensures the provision of real health services at the highest levels of quality, and according to a technological system that is consistent with the concept adopted by the Egyptian state. Currently, to enhance the concept of digital transformation and integrating technology into the country’s vital sectors.

For its part, the Vodafone delegation affirmed the company’s endeavor and keenness to support all digital transformation processes under the umbrella of comprehensive health insurance, in order to ensure raising the efficiency of the level of provision of health care services in Egypt and the dissemination and application of the latest remote health care technologies using advanced technology, and ensuring the improvement of the patient experience. He stressed the need to harness all capabilities to promote the health care authority’s services, as there are 400,000 companies registered within Vodafone that can benefit from its capabilities, given that the private sector has become a major partner whose role is integrated with the government sector.

The delegation pointed out that Vodafone is a strategic technology partner in automating the new comprehensive health insurance system, in cooperation with the state and relevant ministries, as the company has provided many technological solutions and the Internet of Things that have been implemented in the comprehensive health insurance system, which are known as “remote health care services.” Healthcare applications included video conversations with doctors and an electronic database, which aims to develop the ability to diagnose diseases and treat patients in areas of a special and remote geographical nature, where patients have the possibility of communicating with remote control and treatment centers, as well as ensuring access to the best services.
