In conjunction with the world celebration of the World Health Day, celebrated on 7 April each year, this year under the theme "Health for All," Egypt Healthcare Authority reviewed its most significant achievements in achieving universal health coverage for citizens through the Info graph.
Through the Info graph, the Authority highlighted its achievements from the launch of the Universal Health Insurance System in Port Said Province in July 2019 to date, noting that more than 5 million citizens have been registered so far, in the six provinces of the first stage of the Universal Health Insurance System, covering the governorates of Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan and Suez.
The Info graph indicated that 22 million medical and therapeutic services were provided, in addition to 10.5 million family medical services at the facilities of the Port Said, Luxor, Ismaili, and South Sinai Health Care Authority. While 332,000 operations were conducted between large, advanced, medium, small and skilled operations.
On the institutional side, the Info graph indicated that the Authority had 297 medical facilities in the governorates of the first phase of the comprehensive health insurance, while medical and therapeutic services were provided through 1514 internal beds in 21 hospitals, as well as 389 intensive care beds and 195 nurseries in the hospitals of the health-care authority in the four governorates of Port Said, Luxor and Ismailia and South Sinai.
In accordance with international standards, 112 medical establishments belonging to Egypt Healthcare Authority in four governorates were registered and approved in the first phase of Universal health insurance, and 2.9 million electronic medical files were created for the beneficiaries of the Universal Health Insurance system in the three governorates (Port Said, Luxor and Ismailia).
With regard to the mechanization and digitization of medical services, the mechanization and digital transformation mechanisms have been activated in 141 units and family health centers in the governorates of Port Said, Ismailia, Shorter and South Sinai, the operation of the LIS laboratory system within 155 health facilities, and PACS in 54 medical establishments in 4 governorates
According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), 90 per cent of the beneficiary’s satisfaction with the level of medical service at the health-care facility was achieved, and 96 per cent of the beneficiaries of the Universal Health Insurance system were satisfied with the standard complaints system of the Council of Ministers.
Noting the launch of 40 health awareness initiatives to provide more health-care services to citizens in the departments of universal health insurance, and the establishment of 23 crisis and emergency management rooms linked electronically to the National Standard Emergency and Public Safety Network to ensure immediate response to crises,
