The Egypt Healthcare Authority announces that 233 medical facilities have been fully and preliminarily accredited in the governorates of the first phase

In conjunction with the celebration of the 30th of June Revolution and the fifth anniversary of the launch of the universal health insurance system:

The Egypt Healthcare Authority announces that 233 medical facilities have been fully and preliminarily accredited in the governorates of the first phase of the universal health coverage application.

The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority states that the authority is the largest entity in the healthcare sector, both public and private, owning health facilities accredited to various degrees according to the national GAHAR standards and recognized internationally by ISQua.

The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority states that accreditation is the main gateway for a health facility to enter the universal health insurance system, with 135 facilities fully accredited in the governorates implementing the universal health insurance system.

The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority highlights that the application of accreditation standards within the authority's facilities has contributed to the quality of medical service and improved patient safety.


The Egypt Healthcare Authority, headed by Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and the general supervisor of the universal health insurance and Hayat Karema projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, announced the successful accreditation of 233 health facilities belonging to the Authority, according to various accreditation standards in six governorates where universal health coverage is applied.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky highlighted that the Egypt Healthcare Authority is the largest entity in the healthcare field, owning health facilities accredited according to GAHAR standards recognized internationally by the ISQua organization. He noted that the facilities that have obtained full accreditation total 135 medical facilities of the Authority, while a total of 98 health facilities have been preliminarily accredited in the six governorates implementing the universal health insurance system: Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan.

Dr. El-Sobky explained that Port Said owns 43 fully accredited medical facilities according to the national GAHAR standards recognized by ISQua, while Luxor has 59 fully accredited facilities and one preliminarily accredited facility. The number of facilities with various degrees of accreditation in Ismailia is 44, in Suez 23 facilities are preliminarily accredited according to GAHAR national standards, and Aswan has 44 medical facilities accredited according to different accreditation degrees, while South Sinai has 19 medical facilities accredited according to different accreditation degrees.

The Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority affirmed that obtaining national accreditation recognized internationally ensures that the facilities meet the highest global standards and confirms the quality of health services provided and the quality of the health system outputs at the Egypt Healthcare Authority's facilities in accordance with international standard specifications. This aligns with the goals of Egypt Vision 2030 in terms of health.

He pointed out that accreditation is the main gateway for health facilities to enter the universal health insurance system to provide services to beneficiaries. It also grants a competitive advantage to the medical facility as a globally accredited entity, ensuring the highest level of safety, security, and quality of health services provided by the Egypt Healthcare Authority's facilities, in line with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030 to improve the quality of medical services provided to the Egyptian patient.

Dr. El-Sobky noted that applying accreditation standards within the Authority's facilities has contributed to improving patient safety by enhancing the quality of medical services provided by healthcare providers within the health facilities, regardless of their designations. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts of the Authority to enhance the quality of health service packages provided in all its facilities in the governorates with universal health insurance, ensuring the sustainability of performance development to provide distinguished health services that meet global standards, befitting the beneficiaries of the universal health insurance system.
