Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egypt Healthcare Authority for Health Care, received Mr. Wind Li Junfeng, Senior Vice President of Huawei International and CEO of the Global Public Business Sector, and his accompanying delegation during a high-level field visit to the Suez Medical Complex.
The visit of the first vice president of Huawei International comes to follow up on the results of the work of the memorandum of understanding signed with the Health Care Authority in China last April.
During the visit, the two sides launched the activation of fifth-generation (5G) technologies within the Suez Medical Complex, thus becoming the first smart digital hospital affiliated with the Authority to operate with fifth-generation technology, which represents a qualitative shift in the smart medical operating environment, enhances real-time data exchange, immediate control of systems, and improves operational efficiency in an unprecedented way.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobki said that what was achieved in the Suez Medical Complex embodies the Authority's vision of building smart hospitals based on real-time data and analysis and operating with smart operating systems based on advanced technology to be able to provide accurate, fast, and safe health care to beneficiaries of comprehensive health insurance.
Al-Sobki continued, We are establishing a sustainable smart health system model in our facilities, based on technology and sustainable digital transformation within the facilities and not a traditional system. The Suez Medical Complex is the first model for this trend, and it is a first step towards generalizing this model to all the Authority's facilities in the comprehensive health insurance governorates.
During the field visit, Mr. Wind Lee was briefed on the complex's integrated smart electronic system and listened to a detailed explanation of the patient's journey within the facility, starting from electronic reservation to obtaining the electronic prescription and receiving treatment, as well as the referral system and mechanisms for managing the electronic medical record. He also inspected the patient rooms in the internal department, the intensive care unit, laboratories, the observation room, and cameras and expressed his admiration for the digital infrastructure and the efficiency of the smart systems used.
The Huawei delegation reviewed the CDSS model supported by artificial intelligence for clinical risk assessment and medical decision support, in addition to reviewing the Ruipath smart model in pathology for issuing accurate automatic diagnostic reports that combine pathological images and clinical data to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
For his part, Mr. Wind Lee said, The Suez Medical Complex is an inspiring model for how to integrate advanced technology into the healthcare sector, and this achievement is not the end of the partnership, but rather the beginning of a long path in supporting smart digital transformation in the Egyptian healthcare sector.
He added that the Suez Medical Complex is not only the Authority's first smart digital hospital, but it is also a real platform for experimenting and applying the latest artificial intelligence and medical automation technologies. We are committed to transferring all Huawei expertise to support this model and replicating it in all governorates implementing the comprehensive health insurance system
