Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and Supervisor General of the Universal Health Insurance and Life Dignified projects under the Ministry of Health and Population, welcomed Professor Dr. Ali Mehran, Chairman of the Health and Population Committee of the Senate, along with a high-level parliamentary delegation, at the Authority's branch in Luxor Governorate.
During their visit, Dr. El-Sobky, the Chairman of the Health Committee of the Senate, and the accompanying parliamentary delegation inspected the Command and Control Room for the Southern Upper Egypt region at the Luxor branch. This visit was part of the implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to generalize the unified national network for advanced emergency services and public safety. The delegation also conducted joint maneuvers, praising the rapid response capabilities in crisis management.
Furthermore, Dr. El-Sobky and the delegation met with the Governor of Luxor and the region's political and executive leaders. The visit underscored the ongoing and field inspections by the Senate's Health Committee to continuously evaluate and monitor the performance of the Universal Health Insurance system, ensuring the provision of optimal health services and care to the citizens. Dr. El-Sobky expressed appreciation for the committee's visits and assured that all recommendations are taken seriously and valued.
Dr. El-Sobky highlighted that healthcare is a fundamental pillar of comprehensive development and that customer satisfaction is the utmost goal of the Egypt Healthcare Authority. He reported that more than 9 million medical and therapeutic services have been provided in hospitals, and over 7 million services in family medicine centers and units, all of high international quality for beneficiaries of the universal insurance. The efforts also strengthen the role of medical tourism in attracting more international patients.
He also mentioned that six hospitals and 57 family medicine centers and units have been operational to provide comprehensive health care to the citizens of Luxor, with 58 facilities accredited at a rate of 96.5% to ensure service quality and compliance with international standards and practices.
Dr. El-Sobky announced preparations to introduce virtual health services and remote medical consultations in Luxor to enhance care quality, improve patient experience, and provide quick access to medical services, further developing Egypt’s health system.
He valued the Senate's commendations during their visit to the healthcare facilities in Luxor, stating that such feedback is motivating and encourages further efforts to continue comprehensive health reform in Egypt.
The Chairman of the Health Committee of the Senate praised the level of facilities and the hospitals and family medicine units of the Healthcare Authority, describing the universal health insurance system as a new hope for all Egyptians, a historical achievement that will benefit future generations. He remarked that their observations during the visits to the health facilities in Luxor, and previously in Ismailia, confirm the advancement of healthcare in Egypt and its alignment with international standards, noting the citizens' satisfaction as a unique achievement and a wonderful model that should be implemented across all governorates.
He expressed a desire for the healthcare system to continue operating at this high level of quality and excellence, affirming full support for the Egypt Healthcare Authority, its leadership, and its young cadres in their steps towards health reform and achieving sustainable development in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.
The Governor of Luxor praised the Egypt Healthcare Authority's efforts in providing the best health services and care to the people of Luxor, emphasizing their commitment to providing comprehensive health care to all according to the highest international standards. He noted that the universal health insurance system has achieved a qualitative leap in the system of services and healthcare provided to citizens, reflecting the state's commitment to improving healthcare quality at the highest levels of efficiency.
Members of the Senate Health Committee commended the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s efforts in regulating and providing health care services to the citizens of Luxor, describing it as a "sophisticated and distinguished level of service, a commendable model for providing health service in Egyptian villages and centers, witnessing a wonderful nucleus of medical tourism services that bodes well for Egypt, the nursing care institutes and their educational services are a remarkable addition, great efforts are being made by the medical staff and workers, and we are pleased to have pharmacists as part of the system, satisfied and impressed by the positivity of all aspects and medical capabilities, what we saw drove us to raise our ambitions and expectations for the reach of healthcare in Egypt to global levels."
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to work together to enhance healthcare in Egypt and achieve universal health coverage and high-quality care for citizens, as well as to strengthen cooperation between the Authority, government institutions, the private sector, and international entities to achieve Egypt's Vision 2030 in the field of health and care.
