Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, and Dr. Sahar Nasr, former Minister of Investment and International Cooperation and Executive Director of the Zakat and Charity House, signed a bilateral cooperation protocol to support the joint efforts between the two parties to enhance healthcare services provided to the underprivileged, at the headquarters of Al-Azhar.

His Eminence the Grand Imam emphasized the importance of providing quality healthcare services to the poor and needy, and ensuring the availability of the latest medical equipment, devices, and supplies to handle critical and emergency cases. He reiterated his instructions to the Zakat and Charity House to exempt patients from lengthy routine procedures required for obtaining treatment approvals, stating, "Everything can be endured except the pain of illness, and thus God has granted a great virtue to it by expiating sins."

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority, said that the cooperation protocol between the Authority and the Zakat and Charity House is part of the Authority’s role as the state's main tool in regulating and providing insured healthcare services. He noted that under this protocol, the cost of treatment for uninsured, underprivileged patients will be covered.

He expressed his pride in the collaboration with the Zakat and Charity House for its effective role in helping underprivileged families and providing essential medical care to all categories, regardless of their financial status or insurance coverage. He added, "Through this protocol, the Authority seeks to achieve integration between the public and charitable sectors to provide the best healthcare services, and to expand financial protection for all citizens, ensuring high-quality healthcare for everyone."

He praised the role of the Zakat and Charity House as one of the institutions providing both in-kind and financial donations, particularly through the "Health" program (medical and healthcare services) it sponsors. The program focuses on providing direct assistance such as supplying medications, performing surgeries, providing surgical supplies, and purchasing medical supplies to families or individuals experiencing health issues and unable to afford life necessities, as well as those unable to receive similar services outside the comprehensive health insurance system.

The Executive Director of the Zakat and Charity House expressed her pleasure in collaborating with the Healthcare Authority, highlighting the tangible impact and significant improvements in the level of medical services provided through the Authority's facilities in the comprehensive health insurance governorates.
