Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: Investing in Children’s Health Is Investing in a Strong, Healthy Generation Capable of Realizing Egypt’s Future Aspirations

The Healthcare Authority has announced the launch of its first nationwide campaign to assess the nutritional status of children in governorates covered by the Universal Health Insurance system in 2025, under the slogan "Their Health, Their Future." The campaign aims to early detect nutritional disorders, promote health awareness among children and their families, and support preventive care efforts to improve quality of life. This initiative aligns with the Authority’s strategy to prevent diseases and build a healthier future generation.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, stated that the campaign is being implemented in partnership with the Suez Canal Bank and will initially be launched in Ismailia at the beginning of 2025. It will target 5,000 students across all educational stages—from kindergarten to middle school—through mobile clinics equipped with the latest medical technologies to ensure an accurate assessment of children's nutritional health and early detection of any issues.

Enhancing Child Health and Preventing Chronic Diseases

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that the campaign is part of the Healthcare Authority’s broader efforts to promote preventive care and early detection. He highlighted the campaign’s primary objectives, which include:

  • Improving overall health indicators among school students
  • Reducing the prevalence of chronic diseases in the future
  • Raising awareness among children and their families about proper nutrition

These efforts are expected to lay the foundation for a healthier generation capable of contributing to Egypt's development.

Innovative and Engaging Awareness Activities

Beyond medical check-ups and nutritional assessments, the campaign will incorporate interactive and engaging activities designed to make health education more accessible and enjoyable for children. These include:

  • Interactive workshops to educate children about healthy eating habits
  • Simplified theatrical performances to reinforce key health messages
  • Educational games to encourage healthy behaviors
  • Distribution of awareness materials, including:
    • Booklets with health guidelines
    • School supplies featuring key health messages

These initiatives aim to motivate children to adopt healthier lifestyles both at school and at home.

Strategic Partnership Between Healthcare and Banking Sectors

Dr. El-Sobky commended the partnership between the Healthcare Authority and the Suez Canal Bank, highlighting the bank’s significant role in supporting community health initiatives. He emphasized that such collaborations between the healthcare and banking sectors play a crucial role in achieving sustainable development and improving healthcare services.

This initiative aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 by fostering national collaboration and promoting high-quality healthcare services.

A Long-Term Investment in Egypt’s Future

Dr. El-Sobky reaffirmed that the campaign represents a strategic investment in the well-being of Egypt’s future generations. He noted that the initiative will:

  • Promote community awareness of healthy nutrition
  • Address common nutritional issues, such as obesity, anemia, stunting, and short stature
  • Provide specialized education and awareness programs for children with diabetes and their families to ensure a healthier, more secure future for them.

This campaign marks a significant step towards building a healthier society and ensuring that future generations are equipped to fulfill Egypt’s aspirations.
