The Egypt Health Care Authority has launched an intensive workshop to train healthcare providers on clinical governance concepts and medical registration standards in the Suez Governorate.
The workshop is part of the Egypt Health Care Authority's commitment to ensuring that all health services provided through its healthcare provider network are safe, high-quality services delivered in accordance with the highest international standards of quality and safety. The workshop also emphasizes the ongoing effort to develop the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.
According to a statement from the authority, the intensive workshop in Suez included training on clinical governance concepts, patient safety, and key policies to regulate medical performance in hospitals. It also covered the activation of the clinical governance organizational structure in the governorate to achieve sustainability through an integrated institutional approach that encompasses all aspects of clinical governance. Additionally, the workshop trained participants on the basics and standards of proper medical registration, both paper and electronic, as well as international coding systems for diseases and medical interventions.
The statement continued: The workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply the latest systems and methods for ensuring the safety and quality of healthcare provided to patients, through scientific lectures and interactive sessions. The training covered patient safety standards, surgical and medication safety, and infection control mechanisms, including hospital-acquired infections during service provision or surgical site infections. The workshop also focused on managing adverse events in hospitals, including identifying, reporting, taking corrective actions, learning from such events, and preventing their recurrence. Additionally, it addressed mechanisms for medical review of morbidity and mortality cases, as well as clinical audits objectively and systematically across Egypt Health Care Authority hospitals, highlighting the role of information in implementing clinical governance.
The workshop also explained the basics of proper medical registration, both paper and electronic, and the quality and accreditation standards issued by the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control. It provided an overview of various medical forms used and their completion procedures, international classification systems for diagnoses (ICD-11) and medical interventions (ICHI), and medical records management systems and organizational structures within hospitals.
The three-day workshop in Suez Governorate saw active participation from senior leaders of the Authority's branch in Suez, directors of the Medical Complex and Hod El-Dars hospitals, as well as targeted healthcare providers responsible for implementing clinical governance systems, including medical directors, physicians, nurses, quality officers, infection control officers, and medical records and information systems personnel within the branch and affiliated facilities.
The training was delivered by Dr. Magdy Bakr, Advisor to the Chairman of the Authority for Technical Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Clinical Governance and the Supreme Committee for Medical Records; Dr. Rehab Kansoah, Coordinator of the Supreme Committee for Clinical Governance and Medical Records; Dr. Kariman Salah, Member of the Supreme Committee for Clinical Governance and Medical Records; Dr. Asaad Sadiq, General Director of Infection Control at the Authority; Dr. Heba El-Nakouda, Member of the Clinical Pharmacy and Drug Administration; and Dr. Wissam Taher, Member of the General Department for Quality and Patient Safety at the Authority.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Ismail El-Hefnawi, Director of the Authority's branch in Suez Governorate; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Deputy Director of the Egypt Health Care Authority branch; Dr. Mohamed Nabil Abul-Naga, Director of the Suez Medical Complex; Dr. Lamia Mostafa Mohamed, Medical Director of the Suez Medical Complex; and Dr. Israa Ahmed Mohamed, Head of Training at the Complex.
