Cooperating with Novartis to transform the Aswan Oncology Center into an advanced regional and research center



• The Chairman of the  Authority follows up with the Chairman of Novartis Egypt on indicators of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding to enhance the care of oncology patients and expand cooperation in the fields of cardiology

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Authority, met with Dr. Jihan El-Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Novartis Egypt and Managing Director, to follow up on indicators for implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides last February, which aims to enhance the care of oncology patients, expand horizons of cooperation in the fields of cardiology, and develop medical training.
The meeting discussed the latest indicators for implementing the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding and the outcomes of joint work. It also discussed enhancing cooperation in supporting the treatment of cancer patients and updating treatment protocols for heart diseases, in addition to expanding the scope of partnership in the areas of training, awareness, and prevention, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky stressed that the Authority seeks to transform the Aswan Oncology Center into an advanced regional and research center for oncology treatment, in cooperation with international partners, including Novartis, in a way that enhances the center's role in providing advanced treatment services and supporting scientific research in this vital specialty. He extended an official invitation to company officials to visit the Aswan Medical Center to study ways to support partnership and joint cooperation on the ground.

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in training doctors on the latest scientific findings in treatments for heart diseases and breast tumors, as part of the Authority's plans to update treatment protocols periodically, ensuring the provision of the best means of health care to patients. Al-Sobki stressed the importance of doubling the number of doctors benefiting from training programs in cooperation with Novartis, to expand the impact of professional development on the level of health service provision.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for launching an accredited electronic training platform in cooperation between the Authority and Novartis, to qualify family doctors to manage non-communicable diseases, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and chronic heart disease. The two sides also discussed developing innovative solutions to enhance health awareness, ensure continuous medical follow-up of patients, and achieve a more efficient and sustainable healthcare experience.
For her part, Dr. Jihan Al-Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Novartis Egypt, expressed her pride in the growing partnership with the General Authority for Health Care, praising the successes achieved on the ground, and stressing the company's commitment to expanding the scope of cooperation, especially in the fields of early detection and treatment of cancer patients, heart diseases, and noncommunicable diseases. She also noted that every joint initiative with the Authority yields tangible results that contribute to improving patients' quality of life and supporting the health system.
