Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, concluded his official visit to the People's Republic of China — part of his participation in the 91st edition of the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF 2025) — by holding a high-level meeting with Mr. Wind (Li Junfeng), Global Vice President and President of Public Sector Business at Huawei Technologies, along with a number of senior Huawei executives, to explore avenues of cooperation with the Egypt Healthcare Authority.
During the visit, Dr. El-Sobky and Mr. Wind witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Egypt Healthcare Authority and Huawei Technologies. The agreement aims to foster collaboration in advancing digital transformation and developing smart infrastructure across healthcare facilities affiliated with EHA.
Representing EHA in the signing was Dr. Amir El-Telwany, Executive Director of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, while Huawei Technologies was represented by Mr. Felix Xu, CEO of Huawei Enterprise Business Group.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Dr. Amr Abdel Nabi, Advisor to the EHA Chairman, as well as Mr. Lyman Lai, Director of Huawei's Healthcare Sector, and Mr. Mohamed Osama, Healthcare Sector Director at Huawei Egypt.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky affirmed that under the newly signed MoU, Huawei will serve as the technical operator for Africa’s and Egypt’s first Virtual Hospital, and the first implementer of 5G technology and smart eco-systems across EHA’s healthcare facilities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Wind (Li Junfeng), Global Vice President of Huawei Technologies, said:

He added that Huawei will introduce an advanced "Electronic Health City" model in Egypt for the first time, leveraging state-of-the-art technological solutions, and emphasized Huawei’s commitment to transferring its global expertise to support the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s strategies for comprehensive digital healthcare transformation.
