New Emergency Operations Room Launched in Aswan

National Network Expansion: Launch of Central Emergency and Crisis Management Operations Room in Aswan

The Egypt Healthcare Authority has announced the inauguration of a Central Emergency and Crisis Management Operations Room in Aswan, the newest addition to the National Unified Network for Emergency and Public Safety Services. This strategic development marks a significant enhancement in rapid response capabilities for Aswan, the latest governorate in the phase-one rollout of the Universal Health Insurance System.

Integrated and Proactive Crisis Management

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, emphasized that this initiative reflects the Authority’s commitment to improving coordination among healthcare facilities under its management. By connecting with the Egyptian Ambulance Organization through the Unified Network for Emergency and Public Safety Services, the new operations room will operate in tandem with similar facilities in other governorates, including those in the Suez Canal region and Luxor.

Dr. El-Sobky noted that these operations rooms go beyond immediate emergency response; they serve as proactive tools for analyzing incoming reports and developing preventative measures. This capability is crucial for early detection of public health threats and implementing effective disease prevention strategies.

Milestones Achieved and Future Goals

Dr. El-Sobky revealed that the Authority’s existing operations rooms across Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, and Suez have collectively handled 690,000 emergency reports to date. The response rate improved by 40% in 2024 compared to the previous year, showcasing the system’s growing efficiency and technological advancement.

The Aswan operations room, like its counterparts, operates around the clock in collaboration with key agencies such as the Egyptian Ambulance Organization and the General Directorate of Civil Protection. Its functions include monitoring hospital emergency beds, tracking health indicators, and ensuring readiness for any potential crises.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Advanced Systems

The operations room integrates eight interconnected systems, including:

  1. Automated Incident Reporting System
  2. GPS-Based Location Tracking
  3. Advanced Wireless Task Distribution System
  4. Intelligent Monitoring Systems
  5. Medical Bed and Supplies Management System
  6. Vital Signs Monitoring for Critical Cases
  7. Geospatial Mapping (GEO) of Key Facilities
  8. Real-Time Coordination Across Health and Safety Sectors

This advanced infrastructure ensures swift, coordinated responses to health emergencies and crises, reinforcing public safety and operational efficiency.

A National Milestone Aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030

The launch of this state-of-the-art operations room signifies a transformative step in crisis and emergency management, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development. The operations room integrates seamlessly with other essential sectors, including health, ambulance services, civil protection, and utilities like water, electricity, gas, and petroleum, creating a unified approach to safeguarding public safety and well-being.

Ongoing Commitment to Excellence

The Egypt Healthcare Authority reaffirmed its commitment to advancing its systems and processes to deliver world-class healthcare services. By continually enhancing its emergency response and crisis management capabilities, the Authority aims to strengthen Egypt’s overall resilience and achieve sustainable development in the healthcare sector.
