Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority for Health Care and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, received Professor Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, and Major General Akram Mohamed Galal, Governor of Ismailia, to inspect a number of health facilities affiliated with the Authority in Ismailia Governorate and to see the fruits of development and achievements achieved in the comprehensive health insurance system.
During their tour, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Health, Chairman of the Health Care Authority, and Governor of Ismailia inspected the Ismailia Medical Complex, affiliated with the General Authority for Health Care, which is considered one of the distinguished medical edifices in the comprehensive health insurance system.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobki confirmed that the complex has so far provided 5.5 million medical services to beneficiaries, and it also represents a model of integrated health care that conforms to the highest standards of quality and accreditation, as it has obtained the accreditation of the Joint International Committee JCI and the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control (GAHAR), in addition to the complex's laboratories obtaining ISO certificates (International ISO 15189).
Al-Sabki pointed out the qualitative boom witnessed by the complex in micro-organ transplant services, such as liver, corneal, and cochlear transplantation, in addition to establishing a specialized unit for phototherapy and psoriasis, increasing the number of intensive care beds, and an intermediate care unit, which contributes to enhancing the health services provided to citizens.
During the visit, Professor Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, and Major General Akram Jalal followed up on the first case of liver transplantation at the Ismailia Medical Complex, which is the first of its kind in the Canal Region, as part of the Authority's efforts to localize precise medical services. Professor Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar praised that the complex has performed more than 111,000 delicate operations and surgeries since its operation, including a liver transplant, two corneal transplants, and 43 cochlear implants, in addition to advanced cardiac catheterization operations, most notably 45 TAVI operations, and 18 advanced spinal rehabilitation operations and surgeries.
The inspection tour also included the complex's stroke unit, which has received international accreditation from the World Stroke Organization (WSO). The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health praised the quality of service and the speed of dealing with emergency cases, while Dr. Al-Sobki stressed that this international accreditation represents the culmination of the Authority's efforts to develop critical care and life-saving services in accordance with international standards.
During the tour, they also followed the health condition of the Palestinian child "Haider" inside the medical complex after he underwent delicate orthopedic surgery at the hands of a specialized medical team within the framework of the humanitarian role played by the state in the implementation of the directives of the political leadership to work to provide the best advanced health services to the sons of the brotherly Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
In an important gesture, the visit witnessed the launch of the first phase of the Authority's home health care initiative, "Caring for You at Home," and the launch of the hotline dedicated to the medical tourism and home health care services project, 15305. The first "Home Care Car" cars were also launched within the initiative. Dr. Al-Sabki stressed that the initiative represents a new shift in the concept of providing health services and an extension of patient-centered care, ensuring the highest levels of quality, care, and comfort for citizens in their homes.
They continued their tour by inspecting the June 30 International Center for Nephrology and Urology, where they listened to patients' opinions about the quality of services. The head of the authority explained that the center succeeded in performing 21 kidney transplant operations and provided more than one million medical services, in addition to 256,000 dialysis sessions, an achievement that reflects the qualitative development in kidney and urology services in Ismailia Governorate.
During the tour, Professor Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, confirmed that what he saw inside the Ismailia Medical Complex and the facilities of the Health Care Authority in the governorate confirms beyond any doubt the success of the comprehensive health insurance system and its ability to provide health services that match international standards, praising the Authority's efforts in controlling and organizing the provision of integrated health care services.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, said that the Authority's facilities in Ismailia Governorate represent a qualitative shift in providing integrated health care services, stressing the Authority's continuation of providing health services with the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and human dignity to beneficiaries, and applying international accreditation standards to ensure the sustainability of the service and achieve community satisfaction.
Major General Akram Galal, Governor of Ismailia, stressed that the governorate is proud of the presence of this integrated medical edifice on its land, noting that the Ismailia Medical Complex is a real added value to the health system in the governorate and contributes in an effective role in providing advanced medical services to the people of the entire Canal region.
It should be noted that the field visit to Ismailia Governorate today includes inspecting a number of other health facilities affiliated with the Authority in the governorate, including the International Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, Tal Al-Kabir Hospital, and the Old Al-Mahsama Family Medicine Center, in addition to the Oncology Hospital in Ismailia.
