In the era of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Egypt Healthcare Authority has announced significant achievements in developing the nursing system in the governorates where the universal health insurance system has been implemented, including Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, and Suez.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sabki, the head of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and the general supervisor of the comprehensive health insurance and "Decent Life" projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the authority's accomplishments in the nursing system aim to enhance the quality of healthcare and develop the skills of nursing staff, thus improving the health services provided to citizens.
In this context, Dr. El-Sabki explained that the achievements included developing wages and salaries, where the salaries of nursing staff within the authority have been doubled, ranging from 8,000 to 17,000 Egyptian pounds, depending on the job grade, competence, and scientific excellence.
Dr. El-Sabki added that the authority provided exceptional training programs for more than 13,000 nurses, aiming to develop their scientific, professional, linguistic, and technological research skills, as well as communication skills. The training also includes the development of clinical skills through opportunities to train in some of the best hospitals in Europe, such as in Italy. Furthermore, the authority has made efforts to bring global expertise to share knowledge and recent developments in nursing care.
Additionally, the authority has worked on developing a new uniform for nursing staff in its health facilities, categorizing nursing uniforms and assigning distinctive uniforms for each department in the hospitals. The authority uses various and distinctive colors for males and females, including a special uniform for nursing heads of both genders in hospitals. The authority has designed 13 different global uniform codes, combining American and European experiences in coding medical attire and outfitting medical staff, aiming to improve the overall appearance and align with the authority’s distinctive visual identity.
Dr. El-Sabki mentioned that in memory of the nursing staff who died in the line of duty, the authority named health facilities after them, such as naming the operating wing at Al-Hayat Hospital in Port Fouad after the martyr "Shaimaa Hassan", and the family medicine unit previously known as "Mohamed Refaat" in Ismailia after the martyr.
Dr. El-Sabki continued, stating that the nursing staff participated in executing several health initiatives launched by the authority in cooperation with the private and public sectors, including the "Ramadan Health for the Whole Family" initiative, heart disease awareness messages, and the "Golden Thousand Days" initiative.
Furthermore, the Egypt Healthcare Authority operates 11 technical nursing institutes in five governorates (Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez), where students are equipped with educational curricula and skills necessary to graduate nursing staff at the highest possible level, according to quality standards and job market needs.
Dr. El-Sabki praised the efforts of Dr. Kawthar Mahmoud, the general syndicate of nursing and general supervisor of the nursing system at the Egypt Healthcare Authority, a member of the Senate and the board of directors of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, for her syndicate and executive efforts at the authority to create a qualitative leap in the nursing care system at all levels.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sabki affirmed that these achievements are part of the Egypt Healthcare Authority's commitment to improving healthcare quality in Egypt and developing the nursing sector. The improvements reflect the authority’s commitment to providing a stimulating and suitable work environment for nursing, enhancing the scientific and professional competencies and skills of the nursing staff, in alignment with the political leadership’s vision to improve healthcare services provided to citizens and achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030.
