The Egypt Health Care Authority participated in a workshop to explore the latest international innovations in the field of diagnostics and laboratories in collaboration with Roche Diagnostics in Switzerland.

The Egypt Health Care Authority announced a preliminary agreement with Roche Diagnostics for future collaboration on health planning for laboratory and diagnostic services using the company's innovative solutions and consultations.

The delegation from the Egypt Health Care Authority explored robotic surgery technologies during a visit to the University Hospital in Geneva, Switzerland, one of the largest hospitals in Europe.

During the workshop, Dr. Hany Rashid, Vice President of the Egypt Health Care Authority, Dr. Ahmed Hamad, Advisor to the President of the Authority for Policies and Health Systems, Dr. Sally Abdel Raouf, Head of the Central Administration for Health Affairs and Treatment, Dr. Ahmed Al-Burai, Director of the Egypt Health Care Authority's Luxor Branch and Head of the Upper Egypt Region, and Dr. Ali Jawhar, Assistant Executive Director for Monitoring and Communication participated.

The workshop discussed mechanisms to improve patient experience in relation to laboratories and diagnostics, digitization of histological examinations, linking laboratories and diagnostics, and remote consultations in the field of tissue examination. Participants also viewed the latest innovations and digital technologies in diagnostic services during a visit to Roche's facilities in Rotkreuz, Switzerland, and the company's showroom, which is the largest in the world for displaying diagnostic laboratory devices. The use of artificial intelligence in supporting treatment decisions and improving patient experience was also explored, along with modern solutions for handling emergency patients and rapid interventions for critical cases.

During the visit, a preliminary agreement was reached with Roche Diagnostics on future cooperation regarding health planning for laboratory and diagnostic services at the Egypt Health Care Authority, utilizing the company's innovative solutions. Additionally, there were plans to use the existing network of laboratories across all the Authority’s facilities as a Lab Chain, with central laboratories being established in each governorate and equipping a reference laboratory for the Authority to the highest international standards.

On the sidelines of the visit, the delegation toured the University Hospital in Geneva, learning about the training programs for medical staff based on the latest global developments, exploring the latest technologies in surgical interventions and robotic surgeries, and gaining insights into the management of laboratories, all aimed at exchanging expertise to manage central laboratories effectively.
