Dr Ahmed Al-Sobki, President of Egypt HealthCare Authority and General Supervisor of Comprehensive Health Insurance and Dignified Life Projects, met with Dr. Abla Al-Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health and Population for Population Affairs and Family Development of Egypt, at the headquarters of the Authority in the new administrative capital.

The meeting discussed ways of cooperating between the Egypt Healthcare Authority for Health Care and the Ministry of Health to implement programmes to improve population characteristics and support the 1000 Golden Day initiative in the governorates of the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system.

Dr Ahmed Al-Sobki said the Egypt HealthCare Authority will work in a related context with the Ministry of Health's efforts to implement population improvement programmes and support the Thousand Golden Days initiative in the governorates of comprehensive health insurance.

Dr. Ahmed al-Sobki noted that Port Said governorate became the first to control population growth rates after the application of comprehensive health insurance, while Luxor governorate was ranked 10th among the governorates of the Republic according to the statistics of the Mobilization and Statistics Center for 2021.

Dr Al-Sobki explained that the rates of caesarean section delivery decreased by more than 20% in the governorates where the comprehensive health insurance system was applied, reflecting an improvement in the quality of health care provided.

For its part, Dr Abla al-Alfi stressed the existence of a clear road map to strengthen cooperation with all partners and international organizations to implement an integrated programme to control population growth and improve citizens' public health indicators.

Dr. Abla al-Alfi added that the Ministry is working to launch a training package for rural midwives and educators to ensure that the awareness message reaches all spheres of society.

She also stressed that coordination, continuous communication and consolidation of databases were the best way to follow up on the implementation of the National Population and Development Strategy.

The meeting was attended by Dr Hani Rashid, Vice President of the Administration of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, and Dr Jamal Rutabah, Adviser to the President of the Authority for Financial Affairs and Actuarial Studies and Head of the Central Department of Institutional Support Services, and Dr Issam Beshara, Adviser to the President of the Authority for Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
