The Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA), led by Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, has launched a comprehensive workshop to update its 2025-2032 strategy. The event brought together top leadership of the Authority, representatives of healthcare professionals from its facilities across the first-phase governorates of the Universal Health Insurance System, and international experts in strategic management to develop a clear roadmap for the Authority’s future and enhance its regional and global competitiveness.

A Strategy Aligned with Global Healthcare Transformations

Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that the new strategy is designed to keep pace with rapid global transformations in healthcare, artificial intelligence, and scientific research, while focusing on health service regulation, sustainability, and expanding Egypt’s role in medical tourism and expatriate healthcare services. These efforts will position Egypt as a distinguished regional and global healthcare destination.

He highlighted that the workshop included intensive discussions and brainstorming sessions with leading international strategic management experts, aiming to redesign the Authority’s strategic goals, define clear deliverables, and refine its vision, mission, and core values in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Universal Health Insurance System strategy.

The workshop also involved an in-depth analysis of strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and opportunities, as well as the development of innovative solutions to ensure healthcare service sustainability and enhance institutional performance efficiency. The three-day workshop featured interactive discussions and the exchange of best practices.

A Paradigm Shift Towards Population Health

Dr. El-Sobky reiterated that the new strategy marks a fundamental shift in the Authority’s role, transitioning from merely treating patients to focusing on enhancing population health. The updated approach includes innovative health programs and initiatives, expanding primary healthcare services, and promoting preventive care through comprehensive medical screenings and routine follow-ups. These measures aim to reduce chronic disease prevalence and improve the overall quality of life.

Additionally, the strategy reinforces Egypt’s leadership as a premier regional and global healthcare hub and promotes private sector engagement within the Universal Health Insurance System. This aligns with national directives and the leadership’s vision for a sustainable healthcare system, ensuring universal health coverage as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development.

At the end of 2024, the Board of Directors of Egypt Healthcare Authority established a high-level strategic committee to oversee the strategy update process, chaired by Dr. Hani Rashed, Vice Chairman of the Board, and composed of senior Authority leaders and experts:
