Chairman of the Egypt Health Care Authority: The Al-Fayrouz Medical Complex is expected to have a capacity of 122 beds and 24 outpatient clinics in various medical specialties. The trial operation will cover 50% of the complex's operational capacity for two months, with the subsequent phased activation of the remaining departments.
The Egypt Health Care Authority announced the start of the trial operation of the "Al-Fayrouz Medical Complex," part of the Egypt Health Care Authority in South Sinai, beginning in September 2024.
This initiative follows the political leadership's instructions to develop medical services for the people of Sinai, in line with the Prime Minister's Decision No. (2679) for the year 2024 on the transfer of therapeutic assets from the governorates of Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan to the Egypt Health Care Authority.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Health Care Authority and supervisor of the universal health insurance project, stated that the "Al-Fayrouz Medical Complex" is the first comprehensive medical complex constructed in South Sinai according to the latest international standards. He added that the complex is designed to be a fully integrated medical center serving the people of Sinai, providing them with all distinguished medical services and ensuring they receive adequate medical care within their governorate without the burden of traveling elsewhere.
The chairman of the Egypt Health Care Authority pointed to the estimated cost of constructing and equipping the Al-Fayrouz Medical Complex, which covers an area of 28,000 square meters and amounts to EGP 1.4 billion. This reflects the significant investment in improving the health infrastructure in the province, ensuring the provision of comprehensive medical services to citizens dealing with the universal health insurance system, according to the highest international quality standards.
Highlighting the complex's capacity, it is scheduled to include 122 beds, including 94 hospitalization beds and 16 for intensive care, besides incubators, surgeries, endoscopies, dialysis, and outpatient clinics that comprise 24 clinics in various medical specialties, emergency departments, and departments for maternity, burns, radiology, physiotherapy, catheterization, laboratories, and a blood bank, along with a department for chemotherapeutic treatment of cancer patients.
The chairman emphasized that the trial operation of the Al-Fayrouz Medical Complex would begin at 50% operational capacity, including the activation of outpatient clinics in multiple specialties such as surgery, internal medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, orthopedics, ophthalmology, dermatology, cardiology (Echo), and dentistry. The emergency department, equipped with the latest medical facilities, will also be operational. He noted that the trial operation would continue for two months, with the subsequent phased activation of other departments, ensuring that the residents of Sinai have easy access to exceptional medical services according to the highest international quality standards.
