The Egypt Health Care Authority has announced providing more than 44 million medical and therapeutic services in the health facilities of the six provinces implementing the comprehensive health insurance system over the past five years since its launch in 2019, coinciding with the state's celebrations of the 11th anniversary of the 30th of June Revolution.

The statement from the authority explained that the medical and therapeutic services provided in the comprehensive health insurance system provinces—Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan—covered all levels of medical care, whether primary within the family medicine units and centers of the provinces or secondary and tertiary, provided by the authority's hospitals, covering all the medical service packages needed by the citizen and exceeding more than 3000 medical and therapeutic packages.

The statement noted that the authority's achievement in the provinces included all the medical services provided by the authority's hospitals from operations and precise surgical interventions that require special skill in the procedure and have exceeded 550,000 surgical interventions, including operations performed for the first time with advanced and newly introduced technologies under the comprehensive health insurance system umbrella, where the beneficiary bore only 400 Egyptian pounds as a contribution, besides all diagnostic and laboratory examinations, and services of different hospital departments including emergencies, clinics, intensive care, nurseries, dialysis, etc., through 28 hospitals and 3 medical complexes in the first stage provinces applying the comprehensive health insurance system.

The report also mentioned that the harvest included providing more than 27 million primary care services through 280 centers and family medicine units in the six provinces implementing the comprehensive health insurance system, including comprehensive examinations, dental services, family medicine, first aid, radiology, laboratory, among other family medicine services, representing more than 80% of the medical services needed by the citizen as family medicine is considered the first gateway for the beneficiary to obtain comprehensive health insurance services.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, head of the Egypt Health Care Authority and the supervisor of the universal health insurance system and Hayat Karema projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is the historic leader of health reform in Egypt, having launched the comprehensive health insurance system to remove the health spending burden from the Egyptian citizen. Through the phased implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system and with its inclusion across all the Republic's governorates by 2030, comprehensive and highest quality healthcare is provided to all citizens without discrimination.

Dr. El-Sobky highlighted that the comprehensive health insurance system is a qualitative leap for healthcare services, affirming the authority's continuous endeavor to enhance the efficiency and quality of medical services and facilities to meet citizens' needs comprehensively, noting that the achievements of the Egypt Health Care Authority as the state's main arm in controlling and regulating the provision of services under the new comprehensive health insurance system over five years, starting from Port Said governorate in 2019 and including Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai in 2021, and then Suez and Aswan, are the best proof of the successful implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system.

Dr. El-Sobky pointed out that the five years, the lifespan of the comprehensive health insurance system since 2019 until now, witnessed continuous dedication and effort from all staff at the authority's facilities in the provinces, whether medical or administrative teams, to provide integrated healthcare to reach the highest levels of beneficiaries' satisfaction with the comprehensive health insurance services, in line with the strategic objectives of the authority's vision and Egypt Vision 2030.
