Egypt Healthcare Authority Launches “Ramadan in Good Health for the Whole Family” Initiative Across Universal Health Insurance Governorates in 2025
The Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA), under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Board and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, has launched the “Ramadan in Good Health for the Whole Family” initiative across Universal Health Insurance governorates for 2025. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services and public health awareness throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr. El-Sobky emphasized that this initiative reflects the Authority’s commitment to improving the quality of life for Universal Health Insurance beneficiaries, especially individuals living with chronic diseases and the elderly, who require ongoing and professional medical care. He confirmed that the campaign will run throughout the entire month of Ramadan to ensure continuity of integrated healthcare services.
The initiative aims to reach 440,000 beneficiaries in the six governorates of the first phase of Universal Health Insurance implementation: Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan. A total of 570 mobile medical teams have been mobilized and trained to the highest standards to monitor the health conditions of individuals with chronic illnesses, detect complications early, and provide appropriate medical responses.
Mobile clinics equipped with the latest medical tools will roam the targeted governorates to extend services to underserved and high-need populations.
The initiative focuses on three key patient categories:
Additionally, priority is given to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, people with disabilities, low-income patients, and high-risk medical cases, ensuring that essential health services reach those most in need.
Dr. El-Sobky noted that the initiative provides comprehensive care, including:
The medical teams also offer personalized consultations covering both medical and nutritional needs, tailored to the patient’s condition. Family members are trained on insulin administration, and educated on identifying signs of hypo- or hypertension and blood sugar imbalances.
The initiative recognizes that patients with chronic illnesses require more frequent and professional care. Therefore, the central focus is on providing home-based, high-quality medical follow-up, which not only enhances the patient’s quality of life but also ensures early detection and proactive intervention to prevent complications.
Dr. El-Sobky reaffirmed that “Ramadan in Good Health for the Whole Family” is a milestone in the Authority’s strategic efforts to provide patient-centered, accessible, and sustainable healthcare services in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for universal health coverage.
