The Egypt Healthcare Authority announced the results of the 2024 Excellence Awards during the Fifth Annual Forum, which is being held this year in the New Administrative Capital, with the participation of the six governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance System, namely Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Suez, and Aswan.
During the forum, the Egypt Healthcare Authority honored the family of Palestinian child "Dima Mazen Al-Akhras," who was treated at the Emergency and Specialized Surgery Hospital in Abu Khalifa, Ismailia Governorate. This honor is in recognition of her resilience and strength in facing health challenges. The Authority considers the child a symbol of hope and perseverance, reaffirming that this honor reflects the deep humanitarian solidarity and support that Egypt provides for the Palestinian cause. It also highlights Egypt’s leading role in providing high-quality healthcare services to all patients who arrive in Egypt without discrimination.
The Egypt Healthcare Authority explained that the Excellence Awards, announced at the Fifth Annual Forum under the theme "Towards Global Excellence in Healthcare Services," were presented to the most distinguished individuals within the Egypt Healthcare Authority and its affiliated medical facilities across the six governorates. The applications for these awards were announced on the Authority’s official social media pages, and many deserving experiences were received and celebrated, showcasing individuals with the potential to achieve the impossible through determination and effective management, alongside future leaders capable of making a significant difference in the quality of healthcare services provided to the beneficiaries of the Universal Health Insurance System.
The Egypt Healthcare Authority added that this year’s Excellence Awards included eight categories: (Best Facility of 2024, Best Team of 2024, Best Employee of 2024, Healthcare Hero Award, Innovation Award of 2024, Best Volunteer of 2024, Future Leader Award of 2024, and Administrative Excellence Award), in addition to the "Umrah Award."
The Authority also mentioned that the Best Facility Award for 2024 was awarded to the 30th of June International Kidney and Urology Center in Ismailia. Engineer Wael Abdel-Gawad, Head of the Information Systems Department at Luxor Specialized Children's Hospital, received the Innovation Award for 2024.
The "Best Team" Award for 2024 went to the Awareness and Initiatives Team of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, led by Dr. Radwa Emam, Head of the Awareness and Initiatives Unit. The Best Volunteer Award went to Ms. Israa Abdel-Moneim, while the Future Leader Award for 2024 was won by Dr. Mahmoud Mohamed Mahmoud. The Best Employee Award for 2024 was shared by Mr. Khaled Said and Dr. Mohamed Nour El-Din. The "Healthcare Hero" Award was presented to Ms. Nada Mustafa Awad from the Emergency Department Nursing at the Salam Hospital in Port Said, and the Administrative Excellence Award went to the Internal Audit Team led by Dr. Mahmoud El-Shahat, Director of the Internal Audit Department.
The Egypt Healthcare Authority also honored the memory of three deceased employees who left an unforgettable mark on the Authority’s journey. Their families were gifted three Umrah trips, awarded to the families of the late Dr. Mostafa Salem, Director of Human Resources at the Ismailia Medical Complex, with the Umrah granted to his mother; the late Engineer Mohamed El-Azaby, Director of Hospitality Services at Salam Hospital in Port Said, with the Umrah granted to his mother; and the late Mr. Ibrahim Gouda, Former Administrative Affairs Officer at the Authority’s headquarters, with the Umrah granted to his wife.
In a special ceremony, Dr. Ahmed El-Sebki, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, presented the Excellence Award to Dr. Ronald Lavatar, CEO of the International Hospital Federation. Dr. El-Sebki also honored media professionals in recognition of their efforts in raising awareness among the public about the state’s work in the healthcare sector. This gesture reflects the Authority’s appreciation for the media’s role in spreading awareness of the government’s efforts, particularly regarding the Universal Health Insurance System, and highlights the effective communication between the Egypt Healthcare Authority as the state’s arm in regulating and providing universal healthcare services.
The Authority also honored its key partners: Dr. Omar Saif from Pfizer, Dr. Amir Amin from Novartis, Dr. Hatem Dawood from Janssen, Mr. Ahmed Sarour from New Master, Dr. Sami Khalil from Takeda, Dr. Mohamed Essam from Egypt Assistance, and Dr. Sherine Rassem from Viatris.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sebki, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, confirmed the Authority’s continued commitment to honoring outstanding employees during future events and forums organized by the Authority.
