The Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority stated that the authority will work in continuous context with the efforts of the Ministry of Health to implement programs to improve population characteristics and support the Golden 1000 Days initiative in the governorates where the universal health insurance system is applied.

The Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority mentioned that after the implementation of the universal health insurance system, Port Said ranked first in controlling population growth rates, while Luxor ranked tenth among the governorates of the Republic according to the statistics of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics for the year 2021.

The Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority also noted a reduction in the rates of cesarean section operations by more than 20% in the governorates where the universal health insurance system has been implemented.

The Deputy Minister of Health for Population Affairs and the Development of the Egyptian Family outlined a clear roadmap to enhance cooperation with all partners and international organizations to implement an integrated program to control population growth and improve public health indicators for citizens.

The Deputy Minister of Health for Population Affairs and the Development of the Egyptian Family also mentioned working on launching a package of training programs for midwives and rural educators to ensure that the educational message reaches all segments of society.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that continuous coordination and communication and the unification of data bases are the best ways to monitor the implementation of the national strategy for population and development.


Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chief of the Egypt Health Care Authority and Supervisor General of the Universal Health Insurance and Hayat Karema projects at the Ministry of Health and Population, met with Dr. Abla Al-Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health and Population for Population Affairs and the Development of the Egyptian Family, at the headquarters of the authority in the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting discussed ways of cooperation between the Egypt Health Care Authority and the Ministry of Health to implement programs to improve population characteristics and support the Golden 1000 Days initiative in the governorates applying the universal health insurance system.

Dr. El-Sobky pointed out that Port Said has become first in controlling population growth rates after the implementation of the universal health insurance system, while Luxor ranked tenth among the governorates of the Republic according to the statistics of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics for the year 2021.

Dr. El-Sobky explained that the rates of cesarean section operations have decreased by more than 20% in the governorates where the universal health insurance system has been implemented, reflecting an improvement in the quality of health care provided.

On her part, Dr. Abla Al-Alfi emphasized the existence of a clear roadmap to enhance cooperation with all partners and international organizations to implement an integrated program to control population growth and improve public health indicators for citizens.

Dr. Al-Alfi added that the ministry is working on launching a package of training programs for midwives and rural educators to ensure that the educational message reaches all segments of society.

The meeting included participation from the Egypt Health Care Authority side by Dr. Hani Rashed, Deputy Chief of the Authority's administration; Dr. Gamal Ratiba, Advisor to the Chief of the Authority for Financial Affairs and Actuarial Studies and Head of the Central Administration for Institutional Support Services; and Dr. Essam Bishara, Advisor to the Chief of the Authority for Obstetrics and Gynecology.
