The Chairman of the Healthcare Authority inaugurates the fifth annual forum of the Authority under the slogan "Towards Global Excellence in Healthcare Services" in the New Administrative Capital.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population: The political leadership places great emphasis on developing the healthcare sector in Egypt, and he states: "The Healthcare Authority plays a pivotal role in developing Egypt's health system."

Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: The Authority's annual international forum celebrates Egypt's successful healthcare reform experience and the achievements of the Authority over the past five years, and he states: "The forum's slogan, 'Towards Global Excellence in Healthcare Services,' reflects the Authority's aspirations to continue achieving global standards in healthcare services and ensuring sustainable improvement and development in the future."

Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: We thank President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the historical leader of healthcare reform in Egypt, and we extend our thanks to the Prime Minister for his continued support of the Universal Health Insurance System and his patronage of the forum for the second consecutive year in a great honor to the Healthcare Authority.

Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: We value the efforts of the Parliament and all partners in the success of the Universal Health Insurance System and confirm: The combined efforts of all governmental, private, and civil sectors have contributed to achieving substantial progress in the coverage of health services in the governorates implementing the system.

Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: We thank the members of the Board of Directors, the executive staff, and all the heroes of the Authority for their dedication to providing the best health services, and I affirm: "I am proud of you all." Continuity in giving is essential for further progress and innovation in the healthcare system.

Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: We have provided more than 57 million medical and therapeutic services in 6 governorates applying the Universal Health Insurance System so far, through 328 healthcare facilities and the introduction of 800 new services.

Chairman of the Healthcare Authority: We have implemented more than 33,000 training programs to enhance and develop the skills of our human resources and sent 79 medical missions abroad. We aim to enhance the applications of artificial intelligence, use surgical robots, telemedicine, and genome services, with 60% of our needs met through our own resources.

CEO of the International Hospital Federation: The Universal Health Insurance System is a landmark achievement that places Egypt at the forefront, and the Healthcare Authority is a model to be followed in development and sustainability. The Chairman of the Healthcare Authority is awarded the "Golden Award" for international recognition in appreciation of the Authority's achievements in the fields of healthcare sustainability, awareness, and community responsibility.

5th Anniversary of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s Launch of the Universal Health Insurance System:

On November 26, 2019, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi launched the Universal Health Insurance System in the governorate of Port Said, and today, under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, and with the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Local Development Dr. Manal Awad, and Dr. Ronald Lavatár, CEO of the International Hospital Federation.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, inaugurated today the fifth annual forum of the Authority under the slogan "Towards Global Excellence in Healthcare Services" at one of the major hotels in the New Administrative Capital.

A number of ministers, governors, heads and representatives of health authorities, members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, global health organizations, ambassadors, union leaders, intellectuals, media figures, and partners in success from all sectors of government, civil society, and the private sector were present. Notable attendees included Dr. Osman Abdel Jalil, Minister of Health of Libya, Dr. Nabiela Makram Abid, Chairperson of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Developmental Civil Work, Dr. Rasha Ragab, Executive Director of the National Academy for Training and Youth Empowerment, General Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidan, Head of the Egyptian Unified Procurement and Medical Supply Authority, Dr. Tarek Al-Houbi, Head of the Egyptian Food Safety Authority, Dr. Mohamed Lotfi, CEO of the Egyptian Health Council, Dr. Nima Said Abid, Representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Habloush, Regional Director of the German Saudi Hospitals Group in Egypt and Africa, and Dr. Ahmed Ezz El-Din, CEO and Managing Director of Cleopatra Hospitals Group.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, expressed his happiness at attending the fifth annual forum of the Healthcare Authority, commending the significant achievements the Authority has made in providing healthcare to citizens over the past five years. He confirmed that the health system launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in 2019 has proven its success in improving healthcare services and providing universal healthcare coverage to all citizens, reflecting the political leadership’s vision for advancing the health sector.

Dr. Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the Healthcare Authority, as the body responsible for organizing and regulating healthcare services under the Universal Health Insurance System, has played a central role in improving the quality of health services and expanding coverage in various governorates. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors and the strengthening of international partnerships to develop healthcare and achieve ambitious strategies that ensure the delivery of world-class health services across the country.

Chairman of the Healthcare Authority, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, confirmed that the annual international forum is an important occasion to celebrate the successful Egyptian experience in comprehensive health reform, especially regarding the Authority’s achievements over the past five years. He added that the slogan of the forum, "Towards Global Excellence in Healthcare Services," reflects the Authority’s continuous aspirations to achieve international standards in healthcare services and to ensure sustainable improvement and development in the future.

Dr. El-Sobky also expressed his gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the historical leader of health reform in Egypt, commending his efforts that have made health reform a reality. He also thanked the Prime Minister for his ongoing support of the Universal Health Insurance System and his patronage of the forum for the second consecutive year, in a great tribute to the Healthcare Authority.

He also praised the efforts of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, emphasizing that this support enhances the progress of the healthcare system in Egypt and benefits the citizens. At the same time, he valued the efforts of the parliament in both chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate, and all partners from various sectors of the state, noting that the combined efforts of all government, private, and civil sectors have contributed to significant progress in implementing the Universal Health Insurance System in the target governorates.

Dr. El-Sobky also praised the Board of Directors, the executive staff, and all the heroes of the Authority for their dedication to providing the best health services, stressing that continuity in giving is essential for further progress and innovation in the healthcare system, saying: "I am proud of all of you."

The Chairman also thanked all the participants in the forum, expressing his deep appreciation for their valuable contributions in making this significant event successful. He confirmed that the forum represents a great opportunity for exchanging experiences and discussing future cooperation in the field of healthcare, reflecting the collective efforts towards improving healthcare and providing the best services to citizens.

Dr. El-Sobky mentioned that more than 57 million medical and therapeutic services have been provided in six governorates implementing the Universal Health Insurance System: Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, and Suez, through 328 healthcare facilities in those governorates. He added that 800 medical and therapeutic services have been introduced to provide more healthcare services.

He further noted that over 33,000 training programs have been implemented to raise the efficiency and skill development of human resources, and 79 medical missions have been sent abroad. He highlighted the Authority’s strategic goals to enhance the applications of artificial intelligence, the use of surgical robots, telemedicine, and genome services, with 60% of our needs met through our own resources.

On his part, Dr. Ronald Lavatár, CEO of the International Hospital Federation, praised the pioneering efforts of the Healthcare Authority over the past five years since the launch of the Universal Health Insurance System in Egypt. He confirmed that this system represents a remarkable achievement that reflects Egypt's commitment to developing its health sector and achieving health equity. He mentioned the tangible achievements made by the Authority, such as upgrading health infrastructure and implementing green transformation initiatives, as well as receiving prestigious international awards.

Dr. Lavatár also handed over the "Golden Award" international recognition certificate from the International Hospital Federation to the Chairman of the Healthcare Authority, in appreciation of its achievements in the fields of healthcare sustainability, awareness, and social responsibility, which reflects the Authority's commitment to providing world-class healthcare services and enhancing Egypt's position on the global healthcare map.

At the closing of the opening ceremony of the fifth annual forum, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority, presented a commemorative gift to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population and awarded the Authority’s shield to the Minister of Local Development, in recognition of their continuous support and efforts in completing this significant national project.

The events of the fifth annual forum of the Healthcare Authority include showcasing the Authority’s achievements over five years through documentary films and theatrical performances, in addition to many honors, discussion sessions, and signing several protocols for promising partnerships and innovative strategies aimed at shaping the future of healthcare in Egypt. The Authority’s vision of providing healthcare services with global standards is reflected in the steps being taken confidently toward global excellence.
