The Egypt Healthcare Authority showcased its achievements in South Sinai through an infographic since His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi launched the Universal Health Insurance system.

The Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority noted President El-Sisi's significant attention to the citizens of Sinai and mentioned the tremendous leap in services provided in the Sinai governorates.

The Chief emphasized that development efforts in Sinai place it at the forefront of the comprehensive and sustainable development targeted by the state and political leadership, aiming to achieve the Egypt Vision 2030, especially in Sinai, given its special significance to Egypt's national security.

The healthcare facilities of the Egypt Healthcare Authority provided 1.3 million medical services in South Sinai, with 19 facilities fully and preliminarily accredited according to international quality standards. Additionally, five hospitals with a capacity of 279 beds offer exemplary medical services to the people of South Sinai.

The Chief mentioned that North Sinai is included in the second phase of the Universal Health Insurance system, with 60 medical facilities expected to offer comprehensive health coverage in the governorate.

The Chief highlighted the targeting of deep Sinai areas through mobile clinics for medical examinations as part of the Authority's initiative "Healthy Ramadan for Every Family" in 2024.


The Egypt Healthcare Authority, through an infographic, displayed its achievements in South Sinai since the launch of the Universal Health Insurance system by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi via video conference, coinciding with Egypt's celebrations of Sinai Liberation Day.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, the Chief of the Egypt Healthcare Authority, stressed that President El-Sisi pays great attention to the Sinai citizen, highlighting the significant improvements in the services provided in the Sinai governorates. He affirmed that Sinai's development efforts confirm its priority in the comprehensive and sustainable development map aimed by the state and political leadership across the nation, according to Egypt Vision 2030, especially in the Sinai Peninsula, which holds special importance for Egyptian national security.

The infographic by the Egypt Healthcare Authority revealed that the healthcare facilities in South Sinai, one of the first governorates to implement the Universal Health Insurance system, have provided 1.3 million high-quality medical and therapeutic services, from comprehensive medical exams and primary healthcare services to diagnostic services and major surgical interventions using the latest technologies and global medical practices, from the launch of the system in the governorate to the present.

It was noted that the five healthcare facilities covering all areas of South Sinai have a capacity of 279 beds across hospitals such as Sharm El-Sheikh International, Ras Sedr Central, El Tor Minor, Saint Catherine, and Taba, offering emergency reception and intensive care services. The total number of people registered with the Universal Health Insurance system in South Sinai has surpassed 140,000, with comprehensive medical examinations exceeding 60%, and family medicine services provided by the Authority's facilities in South Sinai exceeding 400,000.

According to the infographic, the number of healthcare facilities of the Authority preliminarily and fully accredited in South Sinai reached 19, according to the nationally recognized GAHAR standards, internationally recognized by ESCWA. The cost of implementing the Universal Health Insurance system in South Sinai amounted to 3.280 billion Egyptian pounds, covering infrastructure and medical and non-medical equipment.

Dr. El-Sobky mentioned the planned establishment of the first complete green medical city in Sharm El-Sheikh for medical tourism and the first deep medicine center in Egypt within the new Dahab Specialized Hospital, designed to serve beach tourism and diving enthusiasts. He highlighted that Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital, equipped with the latest medical technologies and qualified healthcare personnel, is the only government hospital in Sharm El-Sheikh that provides high-pressure oxygen therapy (HBOT) for immediate treatment of diving-related emergencies and other activities, as well as treating injuries in foreign visitors, significantly speeding up wound healing.

He emphasized that Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital is the first government hospital in Egypt accredited internationally for healthcare quality by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and internationally recognized by the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals network (GGHH). The hospital participated in the medical insurance coverage of the COP27 United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Regarding North Sinai, the Chief noted that the governorate is included in the second phase of the Universal Health Insurance system, with comprehensive health coverage services planned to be provided through 60 healthcare facilities. He pointed out the state's ongoing efforts through medical convoys to provide excellent medical and therapeutic services to residents of border and remote areas, highlighting that the 2024 "Healthy Ramadan for Every Family" initiative specifically targeted remote areas in both South and North Sinai, utilizing mobile clinics for medical examinations deep in Sinai.
