The Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) announced the official launch of the Bronchoscopy Unit at the Respiratory and Pulmonary Care Hospital in Suez Governorate, part of the Universal Health Insurance system facilities. The hospital has successfully performed its first bronchoscopy procedure for a patient, following a comprehensive assessment, necessary medical tests, and under the supervision of a specialized medical team using the latest advanced equipment.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, stated that the unit was established and equipped at a total cost of approximately EGP 5.64 million. It includes two fully equipped bronchoscopy suites, a recovery room, a patient preparation room, and a fully integrated scope sterilization unit, ensuring safe and high-quality medical services in accordance with the highest international standards.
Dr. El-Sobky highlighted that the bronchoscopy service is a newly introduced service within EHA hospitals in Suez, forming part of the Authority’s broader expansion strategy to bring advanced specialized healthcare services closer to patients, reducing the need for referrals or travel between governorates.
He added that launching the Bronchoscopy Unit represents a new milestone in specialized healthcare offered to residents of Suez, emphasizing that EHA continuously develops its medical and technological infrastructure to provide high-precision services previously unavailable at the local level.
Dr. El-Sobky further stated that the Authority is steadily progressing towards delivering an integrated healthcare model that fulfills the goals of universal health coverage, in line with global quality standards, through the development of specialized hospitals like the Respiratory and Pulmonary Care Hospital — the first highly specialized hospital for respiratory and pulmonary diseases under the Universal Health Insurance system in Egypt.
In conclusion, Dr. El-Sobky affirmed that introducing bronchoscopy services significantly enhances the diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities of EHA hospitals for lung and airway diseases. He emphasized that this advancement supports Egypt's broader vision for a New Republic, characterized by digital transformation and the adoption of advanced medical technologies, aiming to elevate the healthcare sector to global standards.
