Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, met with the Russian Ambassador to Egypt, Georgy Borisenko (Ambassador Georgy Borisenko), and the two sides discussed prospects for cooperation in health investment projects and the transfer of Russian expertise in the fields of nuclear medicine and radioactive medical isotopes, which enhances Egypt's position as a leading destination in advanced medical services.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of bilateral cooperation, most notably the exchange of expertise in comprehensive medical examinations using the latest digital transformation technologies, telemedicine, and mobile clinics. They also announced clinics in the Authority's family medicine centers and units, in addition to launching mobile Nile clinics to serve expatriates from Russia, supporting medical tourism in Egypt.
In this context, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky confirmed that an expanded meeting will be held with major Russian medical insurance companies, with the aim of expanding the scope of cooperation and providing treatment packages for comprehensive dental examinations for expatriates from Russia at reduced prices, noting that this step opens new horizons to support medical tourism and enhance joint investments between the two sides.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky pointed out that one of the most prominent projects to be implemented in partnership with Russia is the establishment of an integrated international center for diagnosing and treating tumors using nuclear medicine and radiotherapy in one of the governorates of the second phase of the comprehensive health insurance system, so that the project represents a promising investment in advanced health services and a nucleus for future expansion in Egyptian-Russian health cooperation.
For his part, the Russian Ambassador to Egypt, Georgy Borisenko, stressed that Russia is working to deepen its partnership with Egypt by implementing many development projects in strategic areas, most notably the health care sector, which contributes to the transfer and localization of modern technology in the Egyptian health system.
The Russian ambassador explained that more than 1.5 million Russians visit Egypt annually and that Egypt is a strategic partner within the framework of the BRICS group «BRICS», which reflects the depth of political and development relations between the two countries, extending an official invitation to the head of the Health Care Authority to visit Moscow.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hani Rashid, Vice President of the Authority, Dr. Amir Al-Talwani, Executive Director of the Authority, Dr. Ahmed Hammad, Advisor to the President of the Authority for Health Policies and Systems, Director General of the General Administration of Strategic Management, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Deeb, Assistant Executive Director for Health Planning and Mapping Affairs, and Director General of the General Administration of the Technical Office of the President of the Authority, Dr. Mohamed Sami Hamed Assistant Executive Director for Employment and Resource Development Affairs and Director General of the General Administration of Human Resources, Dr. Reham El-Shenawy, Director General of the General Administration of International Cooperation, Dr. Mohamed Ayoub, Supervisor of Business Partnerships in the Office of the Executive Director of the Authority.
The meeting was attended from the Russian side by Mr. Anton Lutsek (Mr. Anton Lutsik), First Secretary at the Embassy of Russia in Cairo.
